Hilya, a classic 35-foot Scandinavian sailing yacht, departs from Raisio Marina and heads into Airisto: the traditional maritime channel that ships have navigated for centuries on their way to the open Turku archipelago. On the way out you'll pass the Turku Shipyard, where some of the world's largest cruise ships are built — a brief, striking sight rather than the focus of the trip.

Airisto is a genuine stretch of water, not a sheltered pond — so your skipper's Finnish commercial skipper licence and offshore navigation qualifications are put to real use here, especially on breezier autumn days. This is a small-scale, hands-on sailing experience, not a mass-tourism boat ride: a real taste of the same channels and conditions Finnish sailors have used for generations. Hilya also has a warm, cosy saloon below deck, so if the weather turns brisk you can always head down to warm up.

Along the way you'll pass pine-covered skerries, and your skipper shares the basics of sailing at whatever pace suits the group — hands-on if you'd like to help trim a sail or take the helm, or relaxed if you'd rather just watch the islands go by.

Coffee, tea, and light snacks are served aboard during the sail.

After the 3-hour sail, round off the trip at a public Finnish sauna right next to the departure pier — sauna access is included for approximately two hours after the sail.
