From Podčetrtek, the group sets off on e‑bikes along quiet countryside roads, passing fields, forests and small villages on the way to the border, where the landscape opens into the rolling hills of Croatian Zagorje.
A gentle climb brings you up to Veliki Tabor, one of the best‑preserved late medieval castles in the region, whose white walls and towers dominate the surrounding countryside. At Veliki Tabor, guests park the bikes and enter the castle to visit its museum, discovering archaeological finds, traditional costumes, everyday objects and exhibitions that tell the storey of the noble families who lived here.
In the castle, the group also hears the famous local legend of Veronika Desinićka, a young woman whose forbidden love and tragic fate are forever tied to these towers and walls. A short ride downhill leads to Grešna Gorica, a rustic rural estate and restaurant nestled among vineyards with beautiful views back towards Veliki Tabor.
Here the group takes a drink break with options such as local wine, juices or homemade brandies – while listening to more details of Veronika’s storey and enjoying the relaxed, traditional Zagorje ambiance. The route then continues by e‑bike across gentle hills towards the small settlement of Poredje, where the pace slows as you approach the quiet surroundings of a countryside convent.
During the visit, guests step inside the convent complex to experience its peaceful atmosphere and learn about the history, daily rhythm and cultural role of monastic life in this part of Zagorje.
From Poredje, the group rides on to a nearby family‑owned winery set among vineyards, where a warm welcome awaits in a cosy tasting room or on a terrace with hillside views.
Guests taste several house wines accompanied by a snack platter of local cheeses, cured meats, homemade bread and seasonal bites, while the winemaker shares stories about the estate and local wine‑making traditions.
