Begin your journey with a visit to the magnificent Temple of Dimitra, an impressive ancient monument dedicated to the goddess of agriculture. Surrounded by peaceful countryside, it is one of the most important archaeological sites on Naxos and a perfect way to start your cultural exploration.
We continue to the colourful and charming village of Chalki, once the capital of the island. Here, you will taste the famous Naxian citrus liqueur at the historic Vallindras distillery and stroll through the village’s picturesque alleys and traditional shops.
Just a short distance away lies the small but incredibly beautiful village of Kaloxylos. In this quiet, authentic settlement, you will enjoy some of the most aromatic and flavourful olive oils in Greece. We will visit the recently renovated old olive press museum, where you can learn about traditional oil-making methods. Afterwards, you can relax with a coffee, refreshment, or a homemade traditional pie in the peaceful courtyard.
Our final destination is the mountain village of Apiranthos, renowned for its marble-paved streets and unique architecture. This charming village has a strong cultural identity and stunning views over the surrounding mountains. Here, we will stop for lunch at a traditional local tavern, enjoying authentic Naxian flavours before heading back.
