What you can expect
Enjoy a canoe descent on the Deva River, the second river with the most canoe descents in Spain after the mythical Sella. Choose from 3 different sections of the river, each with varying difficulty levels.
Depart from Panes and paddle to Unquera. The usual descent runs through the lower section of the river, which takes place in the mythical “Descent of the Deva River” competition. Paddle approximately 12 kilometres between the towns of Panes (Asturias) and Unquera (Cantabria).
The Deva River rises in Fuente Dé in the Liébana region, in Cantabria, and has a length of 64 km. It is the westernmost river of Cantabria and eastern of Asturias. Cross Picos de Europa through the La Hermida Gorge. The water descends from the Picos de Europa of the eastern massif, which causes clean and crystalline waters.
The confluence of the Chares and the Deva in Panes in the middle section of the river causes a good flow in the river and therefore enough current to be able to make the descent to face the descent of most of the route without great effort and without having to get off it to navigate.
Choose from 3 different sections of the river, each with varying difficulty levels. The first section is a complete descent from Panes to Unquera, the second section is a medium descent from Buelles to Unquera, and the third section is a descent to calm waters from El Haya to Unquera.
