At Usa Jingu, a local English-speaking guide will accompany you for approximately two hours, guiding you from the outer shrine areas to the main sanctuary (Upper Shrine). Learn about the basics of Shinto, Japan’s indigenous belief system, and the importance of prayer, nature, and harmony in Japanese culture.
The guide will also explain why Usa Jingu is regarded as the spiritual centre of the Hachiman faith. Surrounded by ancient forest, the shrine grounds are quiet and deeply calming. There is time to walk the sacred pathways, take photos, and simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Try traditional experiences such as drawing an omikuji (fortune slip) and learning the proper way to pray at a Shinto shrine.
