Explore the Uyuni Salt Flats on a guided tour from Uyuni. Visit the Train Cemetery, Colchani, the Eyes of the Salt Flat, the Salt Hotel, and Incahuasi Island. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the salt flats.
After breakfast, head towards one of the most emblematic attractions of the region: the train cemetery. See the remains of the locomotives of the 19th and 20th centuries. Take artistic photographs of these German and English locomotives that were used to extract minerals from Cerro Rico de Potosí.
Next, visit Colchani, a town dedicated to the extraction and processing of salt. Learn about the traditional tools used to carry out this process and visit a museum that exhibits the art and history of salt production.
Continue to the Eyes of the Salt Flat. See the small holes on the surface of the salt flat that are the result of the mixing of fresh and salty groundwater, which creates a boiling water effect.
Continue to the dazzling whiteness of the salt flat, about 15 minutes from Colchani. Make a stop to visit the Salt Hotel and admire its fascinating architecture built with blocks of salt. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in the middle of the impressive landscape of the salt flat.
Head to Incahuasi Island. This high island, formed by volcanic rock, offers a spectacular view of the vast white expanse of the salt flat. In addition to its impressive landscapes, it is home to enormous ancient cacti and a variety of fauna, such as vizcachas and hummingbirds.
To culminate this unique experience, we will contemplate a dreamlike sunset, where the warm tones of the sky are reflected in the vast saline horizon, creating a visual spectacle that will remain engraved in your memory forever. During the rainy season (December–March), access to Incahuasi Island may be restricted due to flooding, as vehicles cannot traverse the water-covered salt flats. However, this natural phenomenon enhances the landscape, creating the mesmerising mirror effect, where the flats perfectly reflect the sky—a breathtaking sight and an unmissable opportunity for stunning photography.
