We begin the tour knowing an open-air museum of the Old Train Cemetery that is located on the edge of the city; where we can remember and imagine the glorious mining era of the region. We will visit the salt hotel, the eyes of

In the town of Colchani we will be able to appreciate how the locals take part of the extracted salt and, being carried away by the imagination, they use it in the elaboration of handicrafts. Creating different things such as picture frames, jewellery boxes, local animals and other accessories where they capture the Andean landscapes. You can also find beautiful textiles, traditional fabrics and functional or decorative ceramics.

The wonderful Salar de Uyuni known as the largest salt desert in the world, is like a mirror that reflects the sky. Surrounded by mountains and volcanoes that reach 5000 metres above sea level. Where on our way we can observe fantastic optical illusions that are accentuated in the rainy season and also the “Ojos de Agua”, small eruptions of salt that will help us to know the process of formation of this infinite sea of salt. We will also visit the “Hotel de Sal”, the first of its kind, which currently functions as a museum.

We arrive at Incahuasi Island in the centre of the salt flat, where we can observe large populations of cacti, sea rock fossils, local fauna and spectacular views of the salt flat. from the highest point extraordinary viewpoint an extraordinary sunset. Then we will go to the hostel that is at the foot of the Tunupa volcano (5,432 masl) in Jirira or Hotel Los Flamencos in the town of San Juan, where we will rest until the next day.

This day we are going to need a little physical effort, for that we are going to have a good breakfast and then we leave early for the Tunupa Volcano that has several colours, ranging from oranges to different shades of brown because of the minerals. The volcano is located a few kilometres from the shore of the salt flat and its name is from the Andean deity that means God of thunder and lightning. Our vehicle will take us to the end of the road at a height of 3,850 metres. From there we will walk about 3 to 4 hours until we reach the viewpoint (4,700 metres) where we can appreciate a magnificent view of the salt flat and lagoons where they are home to flamingos, ostriches, foxes and flora that can survive in this rare and unique ecosystem. In the afternoon we go to our La Cabaña de Sal Lodge in the town of San Juan.
Day 3: Ollague Volcano - Siloli Desert - Stone Tree - Laguna Colorada

We will have breakfast and then leave at around 8:00 am. A.M. Starting with a visit to the Ollagüe Volcano, located on the border of Bolivia and Chile, in the Andes Mountains with a height of 5868 metres above sea level. To the south are the lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, where there are a large number of flamingos and other species of birds, such as geese and Andean seagulls. These lagoons surrounded by snow-capped volcanoes, accompanied by a green skirt, are a wonderful landscape where you can take very beautiful photos.
Siloli Desert

It is characterised by its rock formations as a result of the strong winds that the region presents, such as the stone tree. The desert is considered one of the driest in the world due to the low rainfall that occurs in the area.
Laguna Colorada

The Laguna Colorada, is characterised as the main centre of nesting of three different species of flamingos. Where also algae and plankton, activated by solar radiation and the wind, give them their characteristic colour. Then we will go to rest at the Latitudes Hostel, which is very comfortable.

Inside the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, we will go in search of the well-known Sol de Mañana Geysers. This is the highest point on the route, about 5000 m. The cold is intense. You will see pools where the earth seems to boil in a mixture of red, grey and scarlet mud. We will cross its banks with great care where you can take photos of that unique landscape if you want.
Salar de Chalviri

Laguna Verde

Finally, leaving this desert valley, we will visit another charming place such as the Green Lagoon, at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. The white colour of the salar, the brown of the volcano that depending on the time of year can be snowy and the salty emerald green water, is a whole, that make the place a true postcard. Finally we will finish with our tours, some if they wish, can do it in Pedro de Atacama Chile or return to Uyuni at approximately 6:00 p.m.
