What you can expect

  • Workshop/masterclass for all levels led by Alberto, a Venetian master gilder for 3 generations.
    You will enjoy a unique creative experience, and will be able to apply gold leaf gilding to a valuable object using different bases: this could be a mask, for which the traditional manufacturing process (13 layers) will be explained to you and for which you will carry out certain steps, or a Venetian wooden mirror, which you will gild at all stages.
    You can also choose to gild a frame for an engraving or photo with gold leaf.
    After an introduction to the technique and Venetian gilding, you will begin to carry out the steps for the chosen object until you reach the stage of gilding your object with gold leaf (using oil) (value between €90 and €300), which you will then take away with you. Snacks, coffee, and drinks will accompany this moment of handicraft art for a unique Venetian souvenir and experience.
    You will be guided throughout by Alberto C in the Studiolo, a workshop and gallery in the heart of Venice
