Meet your guide, a member of the Eroico Vino winemaking family, at our Eroico wine shop in Via Visconti 11, just a 2-minute walk from Vernazza’s main square. From there, you’ll walk about 30 minutes uphill along an old trail, with Vernazza and the Mediterranean opening up beneath you at every turn.
Your destination is our vineyard in the Fussà area, on terraces that have been farmed by hand for centuries. Here everything is done the hard way: no tractors, no shortcuts, just steep slopes, dry-stone walls and a lot of work. That’s why winemaking in the Cinque Terre is called “heroic.”
Among the vines, your guide will tell you the storey of the terraces, the local grape varieties (Bosco, Vermentino and Albarola) and the challenges of growing grapes on a cliff above the sea. Then sit down with a view over Vernazza and taste 3 of our wines, paired with simple local food such as focaccia, homemade pesto and seasonal tomatoes.
Your visit makes a real difference. Part of what you pay goes directly into rebuilding collapsed dry-stone walls and recovering abandoned vineyards, protecting the Cinque Terre landscape from erosion.
Good to know: the trail has steps and a steady incline, so a moderate level of fitness is needed, but your guide sets a comfortable pace and takes breaks along the way. The return follows the same path. Groups are limited to 8 people. Private tours are also available.
