The tour starts in the village of Villetta Barrea and follows the banks of the Sangro River to the picturesque “Saliceto Misterioso,” an area rich in tributaries and home to numerous deer that graze freely. Here, you can observe these fascinating animals up close and learn interesting facts and anecdotes from a knowledgeable local guide.
During the hike, you will pass through the stunning landscapes of Abruzzo National Park, walking amidst nature, local history, and unique biodiversity. The route is approximately 1.2 miles long, with a minimal elevation gain (164 feet return), making it ideal for children and beginners as well. There are two sessions – morning and afternoon – so you can choose your preferred time.
