What you can expect

For this activity, you'll need to drive your own vehicle to Finca La Fé, located 2 hours from Salta or 1h15 from S.S. de Jujuy. The road is accessible to all vehicles in all seasons (only 10km of ripio in good condition).

If you would like a driver to pick you up from your hotel in Salta, check the activity: “Yungas: horseback ride in the jungle with asado - transfer inc”.

Meet at 9:00 a.m. at Finca La Fé, an authentic finca in the middle of the Yungas mountains. The team welcomes you with a morning snack of coffee, tea, French bread and jams from the finca, while the gauchos saddle the horses.

At 9:30 am, departure of the horseback ride. The guide will show you how to ride like a gaucho, and what the safety instructions are. During the horseback ride, you will be accompanied by a local guide, a gaucho from the finca, and a translator (French/English). You'll be venturing down steep jungle paths, through lianas, lush vegetation and trees typical of the Yungas.
You will join an ancestral gaucho trail, known as the Camino Viejo, which runs along the crest of the mountain and leads to a viewpoint from which you can admire a superb view of the Yungas.

Here, you'll enjoy a picnic prepared by our team, using fresh local produce: starters, sandwiches, French bread and dessert, all accompanied by a local wine.

You will then head back down to the finca, following the mountain paths. In all, allow over 3 hours on horseback. If you wish, you can then gallop across a large plain, facing the Yungas mountains.

If you're lucky, you'll come across some of the wild inhabitants of the yungas: toucans, parrots, parakeets, cai monkeys, etc.

The tour is open to all levels of rider, and beginners are welcome. Because of the steep terrain, you need to be in good physical condition and quite sporty. If necessary, the staff can suggest another, more accessible itinerary, particularly for children.

the horse's well-being is our priority

We want to offer travellers a personalised experience, while respecting nature and animals :

  • Horse rides take place only once a day, so that the horses have time to rest.
  • The horses are saddled just before departure, and are released as soon as the ride is over.
  • When the horses are not working, they stay into their natural environment, among other horses.

If you would like further information on how we care for our horses, please do not hesitate to contact us.
