Embark on a journey through the Jozani Forest in the southern part of Zanzibar Island. Discover unique species, such as the rare Zanzibar red colobus monkey, as you wander through the forest. On the mangrove boardwalk, watch Indian Ocean tropical fish gracefully swimming amongst the mangrove roots and observe agile crabs scuttling across the mud, guided by the ebb and flow of the tide.
Next, visit the mangroves area and learn how these vital ecosystems are grown and maintained. Continue to the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre, a community project aimed at protecting endangered species of butterflies. Set in 5000 sq/ft of beautiful gardens, the centre offers the opportunity to see butterflies up close, feed them, and learn about their fascinating life cycle.
Then, head to a reptile park to see Aldabra giant tortoises, snakes, chameleons, and more. Finally, travel to Mtende Beach for some relaxation and photo opportunities.
