What you can expect

Towering over Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we find the highest mountain in Germany: Zugspitze. At a height of 2962 metres (9,718 ft), it is also known for its two glaciers, the Schneeferner and the Höllentalferner, its ski resort on the German side and for having a train that climbs the inside of the mountain through a tunnel carved in 1926. The picturesque town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has been an important part of the transalpine trade routes since Roman times. Zugspitze itself was first climbed in 1820 and skiers could only reach the glaciers when the train line was inaugurated in 1926.
You will have the most spectacular view of the Alps available in Germany, all the way through Austria until Italy, if the weather allows it.
