“Dutch Treat”
The Belfort was a very nice experience for a first timer to Ammsterdam. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant way to start the day.Im not a morning person but found myself getting up early enough to enjoy a typical Dutch ontbijt. The hotel is a short stroll to the tram/bus stops.only 15 mins to central Amsterdam. The room was clean but a bit small ;that may be the case in the Netherlands, space being @ a premium. Friendly wait staff and internet access was a plus. The only draw back for the Belfort was the location especially if you were out and about after 1230-0100 in the am. look to spend some euros for a quick cab ride home or you could wait for the night bus(every half hour I believe) . I would recommend the Belfort especially if your with a group.... ToT Ziens!!!!!
“bad place to stay”
the hotel room was the size of a cubical. it was far from anything. cost at least 20 euros to get anywhere!
“Very impressed with the hotel staff.”
When I arrived at the hotel, the staff informed me that part of the hotel had water damage and they needed to transfer me to another hotel. They made all the arrangements including a free taxi ride to the other hotel which is supposedly a better hotel with slightly larger rooms, and is about the same distance from city center (couldn't remember the name off the top of my head). The taxi arrived to pick me up in no time. Since I didn't stay at this particular hotel, I couldn't offer any real comments about it. Therefore, with the exception of the "Quality of hotel service", my scores for the other categories are not based on real experience and I thought I just gave them neutral scores so I could submit this written review. But I was very impressed with the professionalism, efficiency and friendliness of the hotel staff.
“Good value”
The hotel is pretty far away from the center of Amsterdam - I suggest getting a tram ticket for getting around. The transit system is extremely easy to use and you can buy tickets that allow unlimited trips for a predetermined length of time. But the hotel is typical of those in the area - small, clean, and well maintained. The staff were helpful, breakfast was included each day and it was an overall good experience. I enjoyed the stay and felt it a plus that I was staying outside the center of Amsterdam; which, due to the significant amount of travellers to the area, can be quite loud 24 hours a day.
“Little out of the way”
decent hotel, not bad for the price
“alittle out of the way”
The hotel was nice, and the staff was friendly. While it is accessible by tram, there are plenty of hotels closer to the more popular areas of the city. We were also told by some of the local people that we had paid way too much for this hotel (which after seeing some of the other hotel prices while i was there, i agree)
“ok, for the price and location, and European standards”
Small room, old looking, but clean enough. It is next to a tram line which makes transportation extremely easy. Not for a honey moon, but good enough as a place to sleep in a good area close to the center.
“Room in the basement”
While I cannot recommend this hotel to others, I believe I just got a "unique" room in the basement with no windows. The room was bare and bleak - however well maintained and clean. Easily accessible using either the #1 or #5 tram out of Central Station. The staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet above average. You're in Amsterdam - get out of the room.
“Decent hotel, small rooms but ok”
We went during a busy weekend so didn't get much choice on hotel selection. Been to Amsterdam before so didn't expect a lot of space. Be warned, very small rooms. There were 3 of us with 3 beds almost right next to eachother. This isn't in the tourist section of town, but is a 5 minute taxi ride. Hotel is fair enough but not exactly worth the price we paid at the time.
“Don't do it !”
Ok, the bathroom was clean, there was a flatscreen TV, and it is near the highway (if that is good for you) and a nice park (Vondelpark) and some ok neoighborhoody bars. Beyond that, it is all down hill. Tiny rooms (even for Europe), lot's of noise, ancient carpets and decor with nail holde sin the wall where something had obviously been ripped out, as well as sketchy fellow cleints and staff made this an unpleasant experience. About a 15-minute tram ride to the centrum, but on the flips side, also only a 15 minute (but 32 euro) taxi ride tot he airport too. Ins hort, you can do beter elsewhere for the same or better money.
