Bathrooms were shared as it provided a traditional Japanese experience but as someone who would generally avoid a shared bathroom this was more part of the experience than a drawback. "This is a wonderful place to spend a few days. The ryokan is very authentically Japanese. The staff was helpful wherever we needed them. The food Is good, though our best meals were in restaurants in Takayama. Most of all, the hot springs are AWESOME. The water is so thick with minerals, so rich. We didn’t want to leave."

"Amazing onsen! I booked a room with a private open air onsen for end of March 2024 and was blown away at how nice my room and the entire hotel was. The facility was impeccable, food was good, staff was super nice and my room was so great. I was only there two nights and regret not staying longer. I will definitely come back to this onsen. Also, the surrounding was snowy and it snowed the second night, loved it! It felt great to relax outdoors in the warm water! Thank for Onsen staff for such...

"I loved everything! It was so nice and cozy and the staff were very friendly. The onsens were amazing! Very convenient location and walkable everywhere. Definitely recommend! Only thing is that the staff doesn’t speak english too well so they told me the free ramen was at 1030 so I missed it the first night. It says it’s until 10:30pm but they only open for 30 minutes (opens at 9pm and last call is at 930pm) so I don’t think that part is super clear. Besides that everything was amazing! "
