"The gentleman who spoke excellent English helped us when we drove up to the front is a very excellent representative and face for the hotel and demonstrates hospitality well. The overall hotel has the feeling of omotenashi which is rarer and rarer now as more foreign workers and more foreigners with a disregard for Japanese unspoken habits are hired in these hotels. "We arrived to Hyatt regency hakone and were immediately escorted in and were told they were waiting for us. From that moment on, it was nothing but first class treatment from the entire staff. It was an incredible experience and the staff experience alone should make people run here in droves!! It sadly rained (4.5 inches in one day alone) while we were there but the staff was always helpful with information, alternative advice, and wonderful smiles. I booked the recommended spa & massage package of 120 minutes costing 20,000 Yen, but was only given the service of 75 minutes including changing time, bathing and sand spa which lasted 25 minutes, the massage was only 50 minutes. "Staff were very kind and respectful. Room was clean and spacious. Room had a gorgeous view of the river and trees. We enjoyed the very authentic traditional Japanese food served at breakfast and dinner. The public onsen is fantastic and the area also includes a sauna and a cold plunge. Be aware that guests with large tattoos are not permitted. Would not recommend the Japanese traditional room for guests over 5’8ft as the doorways are very low. My boyfriend had hit his head numerous times....
