"The hotel is clean, which is the only good thing. But it misses very basic things. There is no shower screen, so taking a shower is very uncomfortable. If you ask for an extra towel or a cloth to dry the bathroom, reception is not helpful. Breakfast is very poor. It goes until 10am, but if you arrive at 9:30 there is almost nothing left. Butrint, a Unesco World Heritage site. Inhabited since prehistoric times, Butrint has been the site of a Greek colony (800 BC), a Roman city (44 BC) and a bishopric (5th centrury). Following a period of prosperity under Byzantine administration, then a brief occupation by the Venetians, the city was abandoned in the late Middle Ages after marshes formed in the area. The archaeological site is a repository of ruins representing each period in the city’s development and that entity is unique. Moreover the ruines are situated in a beautiful natural setting. The photo shows the famous baptistery, a major ruin from the 6th century and an ancient Roman monument adapted to the cultural needs of Christianity.
