"The hotel appears good from the outside and the lobby, however that is where it ends. The rooms are so tiny that the bed is up against a wall and there was no room for our cases except on the floor taking up the limited floor space. There was an obnoxious continuous odor coming from the tiny bathroom. The safe didn't work and the staff were unwilling or unable to do anything about it. The toilet blocked the first time we used it and when housekeeping came to fix it she yelled "no paper in the toilet". No staff told us about this when we arrived. Housekeeping wasn't done even though we put out the 'make up my room sign'. When we asked why it wasn't done staff replied "we didn't have a key to the room". The only decent thing about this hotel was that the food was passable. We have travelled extensively around the world and rate this the worst hotel that we have ever stayed."

"I think the property in a whole was just as described. I think it is very possible that the property is owned and or operated by devil worshipping people. Satanic music at night with very creepy lights. A big demon above the bar. Sign out front say sigbin house. A guy there asked a girl if she could use her nail a scratch his neck in order to draw blood. We had to lock our door. Super creepy"

"I had a great stay at Hotel Dumaguete and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The location is absolutely perfect—conveniently situated near key attractions, restaurants, and the waterfront, making it easy to explore and enjoy the city. An for the staff members I encountered was warm, accommodating, and genuinely helpful. An also added security, with army guards present on the premises. It provided an extra layer of safety and peace of mind."

"The restaurant staff was great — friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The rest of the service felt pretty laid‑back, and getting assistance outside the restaurant wasn’t easy. The place itself is quiet and feels private, which is nice, but the food overall is just average with nothing particularly special. We visited the herb garden and the staff there were friendly and knowledgeable, which was a good experience. The biggest inconvenience is the layout. The check‑in counter is extremely far from the rooms. It’s manageable on arrival, but checking out is a hassle because you have to walk a long distance with your bags. They have a golf cart that could easily help guests get to the port, but it just sits in the garage instead of being used. Other than the few standout staff, the overall experience is just okay."
