Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"Absolutely loved our time here at Grand Sirenis. The staff were really welcoming and accommodating. The grounds were very clean and well maintained. We liked that it was not a party atmosphere because we were looking for a relaxing holiday and that's exactly what we got. By booking through Expedia we had our own concierge and got one free day at the spa."
Bahia Principe Escape Tequila - Adults Only All Inclusive - Brand New Hotel
6/10 Okay
"This is my second time to the property having stayed at one of the other properties on the resort last time.
What you need to know is Tequila is associated with Coba resort and you have access to things within those two resorts ONLY, but you cannot go off those two resorts to use other amenities on the other resorts. Buffet at Tequila is very limited. Staff is super helpful, very friendly and some of the systems that are in place with Hyatt having taken over by here just doesn’t have the same feel as it did when I was there two years ago."
"Potential guests considering Bahia Principe Akumal should be aware of serious concerns regarding whether the resort delivers the all-inclusive experience it actively markets and charges premium pricing for.
I have over a decade of hospitality experience leading customer experience teams, so I am very familiar with service standards and operational execution. Unfortunately, my stay at Bahia Principe Akumal involved repeated failures across multiple stages of the guest journey.
Before arrival, I attempted to book services through Expedia and the resort’s systems but encountered constant inconsistencies between the app, website, and reservation channels. Despite multiple attempts and working with customer service, I was unable to secure bookings and was later given incorrect reservations that did not match my requests. Upon arrival, I was repeatedly told nothing was available.
Although advertised as an all-inclusive property with 18 restaurants, we were effectively limited to a single buffet for most of the stay because core services were inaccessible.
After escalation, I was refused any meaningful compensation or accountability. More concerning, Expedia was later told we received spa coupons, discounts, and upgrades—none of which were provided. We were also redirected to a timeshare presentation when seeking clarification.
Even more troubling is the resort’s reliance on Expedia terms and conditions to avoid responsibility for delivering marketed services.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya - Adults Only - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"There’s a reason why my husband and I have travelled to this resort three times! Secrets Akumal checks off all of our boxes in terms of service, location, food, and amenities.
The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive, and our room was always spotless with turn down service at night!
Snorkelling is also big on our list and we have seen everything from sting rays, turtles, barracudas and many different kinds of reef fish.
The resort grounds are lush and beautiful with many lovely flowers and palms. Each path has something different to look forward to!
We’d like to give a huge shout- out to Baltazar at the Oceana restaurant for his attentiveness, and for making our last dinner on the resort a memorable one! He truly went above and beyond.
If you travel to Secrets Akumal, you will dream about going back!"
"Our stay at Bahia Principe Explore Coba was okay. Check-in took a group of us over an hour. There was rarely staff at guest services, and we would wait for a while before anyone would come help us. Even some of the staff tended to be rude at times, but most gave good service. À La Carte at the Japanese Restaurant was the best food we had the whole trip. As for the buffet, the food on our first stay was awful. The rest of the week was decent, but I definitely could not bring a picky eater to this place. Simple foods like burgers and mac n’ cheese were not good at all. The snack hut was not great either. Food overall was usually cold.
The rooms were kept nice but had a musty smell to them, probably due to humidity. Our A/C was set super low and still did not get any cooler than 25 Celsius.
Upon arriving, we had 4 room between a group of us. All of us had booked the exact same trip at the same time, and half of us had access to sister resorts included, while the other half of us had to pay ~$250 to have access the these other resorts. I do understand that this is not the fault of the resort but of Expedia, so I did not include this is my rating. However, this is worth a mentions for those looking to book this resort.
Overall, our time was okay, but we did expect better in a resort. We will definitely look at staying elsewhere next time."
"Our overall vacation was excellent. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. All was clean and the facilities are great. The only thing we found a little less than our expectations was that some evening entertainment had additional charges and the buffet was largely the same each day, although the food was really good. Despite the sargassum problem the beach was well kept. We are likely to return. "
