I booked this hotel then read the review and panicked!i dont think they stayed in the same hotel as us!lovely lady on reception greeted us,room spotlessly clean,breakfast was an added bonus! The views must be some of the best in albufeira!lots of lovely areas to sunbathe too and nice pool. We would definitely stay here again!

Karma is going to get you and police are involved

The worst hotel in the world left me stranded after I contacted them via delayed flight! I am a solo female traveler. They cancelled my reservation and wouldn’t let me check in. Nothing was open and I was stuck. They scam travelers and keep their money! I notified the police and have report and also contacted my bank! Karma will get your mother, grandma and female members of your family for what you did to me!

This property was very unsafe with MANY steep steps upon entering and around the property. The moment you walk in STEEP STAIRS down just to get to reception desk. There is a USELESS elevator you need to take steps up to access. It is VERY dangerous with luggage and the male staff will NOT assist you and we were two ladies in our fifties. There was ONE young LADY who offered to help dragging luggage up the many steps! NO air conditioning OR fans! They lied about having fans and getting one to us and it was smoldering hot. The rooms are small and not comfortable! We encountered MANY people with the same complaints and the male staff were RUDE and unaccommodating! Hotel is also on a steep hill not far from old town but at least 15m UP HILL on cobblestone streets. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

I liked the top roof terrace with the view of the Albufeira bay. The hotel management hides from potential clients the fact that it sells some rooms without real windows, but openings to a closed patios with glass roofs on the top, which makes the room air impossible for exchange, stale and very hot. Making guests spend a night in such place during a hot summer is a torture .Those very tiny rooms with filthy air are suitable for storages not hotel rooms. Still the quests are charged between 165 euros during the week to over190 euros on weekend per night. It is so indecent, real rip off. It was very hard to make the manager change the room for a more appropriate one. Also there is a shortcut staircase from the reception to the street below, which is used by very noisy quests, coming from the parties in the middle of the night, so the sleep is interrupted several times every night. Also the reception in about 25 steps below the ground level, no elevator was built, so if a guest has a heavier luggage he/ she must carry it down, when coming to and up, when leaving the hotel. It was my first and last time in that hotel.

Stairs, stairs everywhere. Tripped on tile busted my arm and head. Very hard trying to get suitcases in and out and no help getting them to your room . Shower drain was plugged up with hair and creating a near bath at the bottom.

There was no aircon in any of the rooms and they would only give fans to people children. This was the first time I checked out of a hotel early and moved to any hotel in my life. Avoid staying here.

Stay as far away from this cowboy hotel we had a week book and sent emails to request late check in as requested by hotel only to land to be told our reservation has been cancelled and we weren't only ones this happen to. Charged us for a week didnt get to stay 1 night no refund nothing and then have cheek to ask for review

Where do I start? I read that if we needed a later check in to let hotel know, I called them several times but they didn’t pick up, so I messaged them to say we had a later flight, Id did this 3 weeks before we due arrive, 2 weeks before 3 days before and the when we arrived at the airport we were delayed so I messaged them again to tell them be around 11.30 pm I’d also spoke to Expedia 2 weeks before as I thought I’d booked a balcony room (as that’s what showed on the booking photos) and I asked them to also let the hotel know We’d be late, when they said they would call to check on the room, But we arrival we were told no your room isn’t available as your to late for check in so it’s gone as a noshow, We asked if we could have our rooms later he said no your a no show, this went on for 10 mins, I told him I’d messaged them several times, and I’d spoke to Expedia to tell them he was having none of it, My husband asked for our money back he said no you need to ask who you booked with. so I messaged Expedia (as there was no number to call) they were amazing rang the hotel straight away, they were on the phone to the hotel for 10 mins, hotel man kept saying no to late no show, but Expedia wouldn’t let them not and then we got handed our room key all pre wrote out, so our room wasn’t gone, Well we got into it around 1.30am it was awful room 103, smelt awful like a hostel room, no balcony we were gutted, Had to pay €66 for balcony room, 603 a bit better, Breakfast is bad

I booked this hotel one day prior to our arrival I sent several messages through Expedia, Facebook and email to let them know we would be checking in late after midnight. When we arrived to the property at 12:30 am by cab The clerk at the front desk said we no longer had a reservation He said since we did not check in during check in hours of 4 pm- 8 pm our reservation was automatically canceled . I showed him the texts and emails I sent during the day to inform of our late arrival He did not care I asked why all 3 days would be canceled He said that is the hotel policy and there is a no refund policy We were stuck with nowhere to go at 1:00 am in Portugal He did not care at all Never apologized or offered any help as we had to carry heavy suitcases back up 20 stairs What a disappointment I would recommend others to book elsewhere

Reseña del Hotel Da Gale en Albufeira Basado en mi experiencia personal durante una estancia en agosto (temporada alta estival), y complementado con datos reales sobre distancias y tiempos. El hotel se encuentra en una ubicación céntrica pero elevada, en el Cerro da Piedade, lo que influye en el acceso peatonal. He estructurado la reseña valorando por separado la sensación general, la experiencia de la estancia y el trato del personal. Al final, incluyo los cálculos de tiempos y distancias al centro del pueblo (considerando la Praça da República en el casco antiguo como referencia principal). Sensación General La sensación al entrar en el hotel es de un lugar anticuado y algo descuidado, evocando una atmósfera de los años 70 u 80. Al abrir la puerta de la habitación, lo primero que percibes es un olor extraño y penetrante, similar a humedad o falta de ventilación, que resulta molesto al principio pero al que te acostumbras con el tiempo. La habitación en sí transmite una impresión de dejadez: mobiliario deteriorado por el tiempo, sin mantenimiento evidente, y una ventana que da a un patio interior sin circulación de aire, lo que hace que el ambiente sea caluroso y opresivo, especialmente en verano. El baño, con alicatado a media altura y equipamiento básico (solo dos jaboncitos delgados en envases plásticos difíciles de abrir), refuerza esa vibe retro y poco actualizada. Option balcon choisie et jamais eu ! Le personnel s en fixhe completement. Parking publique sans jamais de place. Piscine non chauffe ok mais mal exposee. Elle est a moins de 25°C. Pas de clim, il faut demander des ventilateur et des lits bb meme s ils savent combien vous etes et quel age vous avez.. a eviter absolument. Aucun manager ne repond aux differents appels (perso ou expedia). La procedure de remboursement est lance. Dans notre chance, la douche avait un tres mauvaise evacuation..

Hostal antiguo sin reformar pero no está en muy mal estado. Muchas escaleras y mala distribución. Camas cómodas, baño reformado. Balcón en la habitación. Desayuno básico. Sin aire acondicionado. Está en una colina y hay que subir una gran cuesta y escaleras empinadas. Aparcamiento relativamente fácil por los alrededores.

The hotel is in a great location, quiet with a walking distance to Albufeira old town and local beach. The view from my room to the beach was amazing. The hotel looks old but well maintained. The staff at reception were super helpful and attentive.
