From the outside the place looks ok and with tight parking . The rooms are tiny and uncomfortable , besides very cold at night as there was no heating on . Sleepless nights staying in hotels are pointless . Was glad to get out first thing in the morning .

Perfect for what we required
Very clean and tidy, the manager was very welcoming and efficient. Great for the one night stay on a long journey. Really enjoyed the breakfast!

Really helpful hotel
Room clean and bed comfortable. The shower was good and towels fluffy. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were so impressed that the hotel manager allowed us to arrive outside of normal check in time due to an unforeseen delay (we did phone ahead, expecting to find ourselves sleeping in the car, but he was so helpful).There were spaces in the free car park for us to use. We did not have the breakfast as had to make an early start, but the price looked reasonable.

Excellent for a night stopover
Excellent stopover hotel. Clean, good Breakfast. Rooms small however spotless. Hotel is next to busy road and junction which you couldn't see from the listing, however the rooms were fully soundproofed.

Chapeau bas - hats off to the the Red Hat.
Alençon is a sleepy little town where the side walks roll up at night, so this little hotel with free parking was greatly appreciated.

Small hotel with parking
Le Chapeau Rouge was a good hotel for our overnight stay en route from Caen to the Loire Valley. It is on the edge of Alencon and we struggled to find a place for an evening meal but finally had one of the best meals ever at small restaurant, La Cave aux Boeufs, in the pedestrian shopping area. We would highly recommend that restaurant for the very friendly Patron and Madame and the quality of the food. The hotel rooms are small but perfectly adequate for one night with en suite facilities. The staff are friendly. The best part of our stay was the breakfast in the morning! Lots of choice, excellent quality and plenty of it! Our daughter and grandson especially recommend the hot chocolate! Thank you!

Great location - walking distance to town. The hotel owner gave us a choice of rooms - don't usually get that! Really friendly and helpful. Watched the hotel owner being great with a disabled guest too.

Stayed at Le Chapeau Rouge for one night while travelling to the Loire Valley. Hotel was very comfortable and clean. Room was basic, but had everything needed for a one night stay - desk, TV, en suite shower, wardrobe, hairdryer. The man who greeted me, who I think was also the owner, was very friendly and very efficient. Arrived tired at the end of my day's travelling and was checked in quickly with no fuss. 5 minute walk to the centre of Alencon, which is a pleasant place for a night's stopover.

Comfortable, convenient stay in a charming city
Newly updated rooms in a convenient location with a very friendly, accommodating staff. (When the handle of our luggage needed fixing, they promptly offered us use of a complete screwdriver set.) Both the room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. A 5 - 10 minute drive to the dining and tourist area of Alencon. We stayed for one night at the tail end of a week-long driving tour of Normandy with our college-aged daughter. We did not have breakfast. Only concern was the free parking adjacent to the hotel was tight for our cross-over SUV and spotty WiFi. Enjoyed the region, the city of Alencon and this hotel.

10 mins walk from the town centre, on a fairly busy crossroads. Not a problem with the noise, as the windows were good quality. Bathroom nice. Breakfast just bread and a croissant.
