Great value friendly people

Very friendly service at The Corner, always helpful. Stayed in the older room with si gle beds. Older but clean and comfortable snd ise of a shared lounge. Shared bathroom but the shower is modern. Breakfast provided, the Corner is great value for money..also has an excellent restaurant.

Is what it is. Hotel with live band and small, cheap convenient rooms right above the bar. Good cheap accommodation.

Tired, run down and tatty. Nice staff and quite cheap, but overpriced for the condition of the room and facilities. Campsites are better. But it is central to Alex.

Twelve rooms and one bathroom? Says it all. Very narrow hallway for the long walk to the one bathroom

Great meals and friendly staff. Its an old building, with some cracks in the plaster- not surprising giving it shook through a 4.0 earthquake whilst I stayed there. Good old pub. I'm sure they'll eventually sort the hotwater system to provide a slightly better one. I'll be back anyways

Nothing flash but does the job well

Basic accommodation but serviceable. Main issue is lack of ensuite and very basic bathroom (single toilet, single shower for 8-10 rooms). Noisy but it is a pub so not a surprise. Breakfast basic but quite adequate. Good value for money if you know what to expect. Really helpful staff and the pub itself is excellent (food, ambience, location etc)

Staff were lovely, food at restaurant was very good. Breakfast was disappointing, self catered ( which I don’t mind) but supply were so depleted, very little milk, NO butter or orange juice, barely enough milk. Nobody there to clean the used dishes ( although guests should do that themselves.. how hard is it to take your dirty dishes from the table?) The hotel is old, and could use some maintenance, window sills rotting etc, toilet seat broken, with lid on the floor next to the vanity. Creaking floorboards we’re part of the charm! Our room was very large, one of only a couple with ensuites.

Historic and renovated comfort

A real feeling of history with renovated comfortable rooms, many with original features and a seperate historical story for each room. Great value too. Many rooms use a shared bathroom, also reno. The meals here are wonderful.

The place was beautiful renovated but still has that old charm, very clean and staff very friendly, great restaurant and bar, highly recommended, .p.s. the only thing we missed was shortage of butter and cups in breakfast area..

Room for improvement

As the beds in the dearer /ensuite rooms were unsteady/rocky and VERY squeaky we moved to a cheaper room with no ensuite but a much better bed. Generally the rooms need a little attention as they need a good clean , maintenance and a bit of a spruce up.
