"The couple who run this establishment are genuinely two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. We stayed in the Tack Room -which has self catering facilities if you wish to use them. However there is no need as a pre-ordered breakfast is delivered to your room each morning. There is a huge variety of choices the fresh fruit salad and yoghourt was great and also the full English. The small garden at the front is gorgeous and totally private .To say that the accommodation is clean is an understatement it is pristine and everything is provided in both bathroom and lounge area, kitchen and bedroom. Especially a good mirror with a socket near by to dry your hair which even good hotels fail to provide.! I could not think of anything they had missed. There is even a small wood burner for cool nights! It is exceptional and a few minutes walk into centre of Alnwick."

"Perfect location between Barter Book and the Playhouse with bus stop right outside. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Nice patio outside to enjoy summer evenings. Not fancy, but if your tastes are simple and you want an affordable base from which to explore the area, this is the place for you. "

"Pretty easy place to find. Getting up to the upper lodge can be a challenge for people with mobility issues. The lodge is a wonderful quirky olde worlde place. All the rooms were unexpectedly spacious. The kitchen had all the utensils you need for self catering and plenty of space in the kitchen/dining area. The bedroom had plenty of storage, an unexpected sofa and a very comfortable bed. The separate bathroom was more than adequate but I found the toilet flush to be temperamental. The lounge was totally unexpeccted, being large, comfy furnishings, a selection of books, magazines and games. The only real downside was the poor internet connection, which was weak to non-existent. We will definitely return in the future."
