"Our room is not too clean. A unclean teaspoon was left on the bathroom sink upon check in. No rubbish bin inside the toilet. No toiletries, so you must bring your own toiletries. No fresh toilet rolls were given to us.
We were offered breakfast when we checked in so we bought breakfast for 2 adults & 2kids. We didn’t get a clear breakfast timing when we asked. So on check out day, we check out at around 10:30am and asked for breakfast. We were told no more breakfast is served, so then I asked for a refund as I bought it separately. I was told that no refund for that, they offered sandwich & cereals. We were given 2 slices of toast instead, 2 cereals. I paid £39.50 for that. It would have been better if we were refunded for that breakfast. But they insisted they’ll make sandwiches but no sandwiches were served. I don’y have high standards when it comes to hotels/hotels but this experience is just too disappointing."
"This is hotel is in excellent position for the Alnwick castle and town.Though car park is downhill then staff is at hand to help with luggage. We found that staff were too eager to serve / attend to unseen needs- especially breakfast seems chaotic with little choice with either cooked breakfast or a limited breakfast bar with no fresh bread. We also found the evening menu limited with focus on meat. Within the hotel there was no area for residents to relax except for a thorough fare conservatory - the bar was unwelcome and with staff busy talking to themselves behind a forest of chairs. Rooms are nice but overflowing with mini packs of all sorts leaving little room to put the toilet bag on a shelf or ability to use the coffee table. Despite the above then we will probably come back if need to as there were a few excellent staff who made for a relaxing stay"
"We love coming here - the rooms are wonderfully designed and the location is great. We did feel this time that the room needed a bit of TLC and the cleaning inside and around the outside terraces could have been better. We opted for breakfast to the room, which was really convenient but didn’t feel as good value as what you would get from going to the Joiners Arms and quality was a bit lacking. However, overall you can’t beat this spot on a sunny day - thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
"A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
We were in room 3 which had a challenging set of stairs, no lift due to nature of the historic building.
Very atmospheric place bang in the middle of the town great access on foot to all amenities.
A 10 minute stroll to the Castle and the excellent car park.
Breakfast was first class value.
The room was spacious excellent shower and roll top bath.
Bar facilities very good small outside beer garden.
Plenty of Sky Ports TV screens in the bar, Saturday night there is a disco in the bar.
Not for us but it did not bother us.
All round brilliant place."
"This was the perfect weekend getaway. The location was perfect and easy to get too, close to all near by attractions. The owners where friendly. The rooms where ideal and felt you could properly relax. Was not over booked or crowded. This was just perfect."
