Our room was gorgeous- but the staff in every area were less than hospitable to the point my husband and I came to the conclusion that their attitudes must come from the top (management). It’s tricky to get to, the stairs and steep to the accommodations (expected for such an old structure), the breakfast was good- service wasn’t. It’s a balanced review I believe- would I stay here again? Probably.

Beautiful, atmospheric, quirky period hotel with tasteful touches referencing it's association to "Harry Potter". The staff were all attentive & friendly. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our room "Bondgate" was very comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom, & roll top bath. Highly recommend.

Great winter two night break.
Really good pub. The rooms are warm and comfortable. Some are Harry Potter themed. The pub is an interesting warren so you need to be able to manage your luggage. The food is excellent although portions are huge. The beer and wine were good and the service is friendly. The pub is hard my the castle which is closed mid winter as are the gardens. We followed an interesting town trail and there is a magnificent little museum which illustrates the social history of Alnwick. Alnmouth with its lovely beach is close by.

Great find. Excellent food, great atmosphere and beautiful rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for a cozy weekend away.

An excellent couple of days in Alnwick. The Dirty Bottle was the perfect springboard for our needs. A top Breakfast-and that Ribs place is well worth a visit. I'm not a massive Harry Potter fan-but the theme was fun

A really funky property with loads of character. It's a grade 2 listed building and was extremely quaint. Hotel was going through a renovation when we stayed so the restaurant was closed - it looked a great place to have an evening meal. Breakfast was very good. Would definitely come back another time - when the restaurant and bar were open.

A lovely property, with a warm welcome, in the heart of Alnwick town. Good food in the property itself, including a good cooked breakfast, but other options nearby as well. A great base for exploring Northumberland. Our room was beautifully decorated, with real character features including a ‘Chateau’-style bed, Chesterfield armchairs and a small roll-top bath. Our only counter comments was that, due to the age of the property, the room was quite difficult to access, via multiple sets of stairs. The room was also very cold on arrival, and the bathroom smelt rather stale, but these issues were easily rectified, and didn’t detract from our overall stay. We would recommend The Dirty Bottles

Lovely hotel with gorgeous rooms
Our room was absolutely gorgeous and beautifully decorated. The Dirty Bottles itself serves lovely food and drinks and is perfectly located. The only slight issue was the noise from the restaurant below, and the street outside, that went on until well past midnight and was fairly intrusive. Other than that a great place that I would recommend.

On arrival to the Dirty Bottles, we entered via the bar area and were greeted by a friendly waitress who checked us in and took us to our room. She gave us all the information we needed to enjoy our stay in this quirky hotel. Our en-suite room was spacious, clean, comfortable with some nice little extras including use of a coffee machine, bottled water and toiletries in the beautiful bathroom. We were on a B&B deal with breakfast served in the bar area. Breakfast is ore-ordered the evening before, which is no problem for us. As there are only four rooms in the hotel, breakfast was a quiet and relaxing meal, which was super quality and tasted absolutely delicious. We found all staff to be very helpful and friendly during our stay. The rooms are accessed by going out the back of the bar and up stairs from a small courtyard, so they are nice and quiet at night.

We asked for a table @9pm and were told they had finished service, yet we were never told this upon checking in ! So we had nothing to eat all night until our breakfast ? Very disappointed in the bar staffs attitude towards us wanting to eat - as we were under the impression the kitchen was open until 10pm - and we weren’t given any other options, not even offered a sandwich ? Plus we had to walk all he way to the Coop to try and buy a parking disc, I would have thought the hotelier would have these at reception to offer to resident staying. For only a pound, you’d think they would have one for each room and simply add the £1 charge - to save guests looking for somewhere to buy them ,

Lovely room, nicely decorated and very clean. Staff service was brilliant, the same male staff member checked us in and was around for breakfast this morning. He was lovely, very welcoming and gave excellent customer service. Managed Covid restrictions very well. Would recommend this hotel.

Good centrally located hotel.
Clearly service curtailed by Covid. Room was very pretty although I found the bed uncomfortable. Bathroom had no shaver charging point (none of the bedrooms has) but location was excellent.

Nice room.
Beautifully decorated and comfortable room. The only downside was being over the bar which was obviously very noisy but the music stopped at midnight. Parking is not available from the hotel but there is free parking a few hundred yards away. Nice breakfast included. Great location next to Alnwick Castle.

Interesting place with some problems.
The room was really good very nicely decorated and comfortable, but access to the rooms is via an outside open staircase - not ideal in November. This really needs addressing. Our room was over the main bar/restaurant area, so the speakers for the music are effectively attached to the ceiling immediately below the room floor. At the weekend the music is on until midnight - if you like it - fine. The staff were very helpful. The food was OK - basically lots of different burgers and some steaks . The location is excellent, parking may well be a problem but when we were there in November it was easy to park. Alnwick itself is a very interesting market town. There are two good Italian restaurants and of course the countryside nearby is stunning. WE had a nice break but I wouldn't rush back to this particular place.

Dirty Bottles cancelled my reservation days before i was to arrive saying my email and credit card info was invalid, despite having been accepted weeks before, and gave me only hours to respond to their email before cancelling which i saw after the deadline had passed. It forced me to find a place to stay last minute when i was arriving for a wedding. Will never recommend them to anyone.
