"Stonecross is a lovely old manor house that has been well restored. Quite often these old buildings fall into disrepair because of cost, but my wife and I felt it was really well presented. Stonecross is located close to the M6 but a short drive from The Yorkshire Dales or Lakes. The lobby is spacious and classy feeling with the tickle of piano music in the background. There is parking for around 10 cars with EV charging for three or four. The charging is provided externally by enozzle. 32 rooms are available but the place was quiet. The standard room was bright clean and comfortable with bath and shower. The food is excellent. There is a small but well designed menu for evening meal and drinks are not overpriced. Two alcoholic drinks cost is £12. We had a lovely stay for our anniversary and i would strongly recommend."

"Check-in was quick and easy - the lady who checked us in was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Our room was lovely, with a large and comfortable bed, plenty of cushions, and a peaceful, warm atmosphere. There were also tea-making facilities and a fridge, which was a nice touch. We didn’t get a chance to try the spa or gym facilities this time, but breakfast was excellent - a great variety on offer, quick service, and perfectly cooked scrambled eggs! The hotel’s central location was ideal for exploring Ambleside, with everything just a short walk away."

"The staff were lovely The public toilets were very smelly. The rooms needed tlc especially bathrooms Horrendously uncomfortable bed and pillows. Strong smell of cleaning fluid"

"This is beautiful castle, worth staying just as an experience. Food is not the best, I would expect but more, but exceptional. "
