Glenfinnan House Hotel

Glenfinnan House Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"For Harry Potter fans this is your place to stay! I’m surprised there isn’t more buzz around the Glenfinnan House Hotel being the ideal location to experience not one but two iconic HP sites. The hotel is quaint, rooms comfortable, bathroom with double sink enormous, nice fluffy towels, and nice bath product. Dinner in the bar was surprisingly delicious - fish and chips a solid offering and the beef stew with mashed potatoes and kale was not only super yummy but also enormous so much so that I had my leftovers (which they kept overnight in the kitchen as there are no refrigerators in the rooms) for lunch the next day. And I’m a big eater! After dinner they brought our wine and tea out to the fireplace so we could enjoy the two free Scottish shortbread biscuits (glad I skipped ordering dessert!) in front of the real wood burning fire, so cozy! Only downside of the room was it was a tad worn and also not convenient wall outlets for charging phone, etc. But all is overlooked because of the super easy access to see the Jacobite train (aka Hogwarts express) crossing over the viaduct exactly as it was in the movie. From the hotel parking lot just walk up the road and then join the hundreds of other HP fans to hike up the hill for a prime spot. Asked hotel for late checkout at noon so we could catch the 10:45am train viewing, perfect! Also the hotel is literally on the Loch Shiel which is where the lake challenges on the Goblet of Fire take place!"

"From arrival to departure our stay was absolutely perfect. The breakfast in room with Nespresso machine, heated towel racks, high quality linens, and every other detail was completely intentional. The hotel is staff-less; however, a member of the team just happened to be present when we arrived. She took the time to show us around, helped us get settled, and answered any question we had about the hotel and town. The room was immaculately clean, and we had a beautiful view of the harbor from our room. We highly recommend this property and will be booking again ourselves!"
