"We rather liked Kemps Yard, which must be fairly new to the listing. Very convenient for Thirsk town, quietly hidden away from the main road, and clean and cosy. Parking in the yard is almost impossible, although the neighbour is an expert at manoeuvring his pickup down the lane! The visitor's permit lets you park on the road and saves you from endangering your vehicle, but you may get your step count up while you unload. We were ok with the cobbled lane, but it wouldn't be so good for those...

"Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space."

"Stayed here after a wedding at a venue just outside Harrogate, were able to leave a car here and even though we arrived well before check in time one of the rooms was ready and we were able to leave bags there. When we returned just before midnight the key card for the second room was waiting for us. The staff were extremely helpful and we were to provisionally book a breakfast just in case we wanted one. The breakfast the following morning was excellent. Will use Cedar court hotels again."

"Room was clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s a pretty good location too, only 10 minute walk to city centre. Check in and checkout was very straightforward and there’s maps available at the front desk of the city centre and surrounding areas, staff at front desk explain very well how to get to places. Would stay again on my next trip to York :)"
