"We had an unusual interaction with the reception staff when checking out, in that a member in our party was berated repeatedly for not advising the hotel about food allergies/sensitivities ahead of our stay. In fact the food allergies were communicated but apparently not passed along to the kitchen. ..."

Excellent cafe in Ballater called The Bridge. Staff at Duke of Rothesay Pavillion Braemar were attentive but lady on till needs to greet her customers with s smile !

Ballater is a fantastic place that I have been visiting for years. Plenty of amazing trails to walk while admiring the breathtaking scenery. The locals are friendly and the food is good.
