A trip to the Baltic Sea impresses with breathtaking landscapes with staggeringly steep cliffs and fantastic views. One of the most popular destinations for leisure excursions on the island of Rügen is Cape Arkona. Apart from the impressive cliffs, visitors can marvel at two lighthouses and two historic military bunkers. The largest continuous beech forest along the German Baltic Coast is not cultivated and left to itself which is why it has become a home for many endangered animal and plant species. Consequently, some of this fascinating part of nature was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
