"Kaliwa lodge is 1hr from airport & Mt Kili walking points. You must arrange transport with lodge to go anywhere as the lodge is very isolated. Located amongst banana plantation down a very bumpy dirt road. Lodge is surrounded by walls and is secure. The lodge has a garden courtyard with rooms around yard. "Great place to get ready to hike Kili or go on a safari. Not 5 star but pretty nice - decent food, great service and ready to please. Good wifi and hot water! Lots of people going coming from Kili!"

"There were 16 of us staying here over 4 days and we had such a great stay! The rooms were comfortable, the food excellent, the pool is nice, and the staff were fantastic! They made us feel so welcomed. Jackie went out of here way to help us with excursions and Godfrey, Betha, Judy and the other staff were so kind. I highly recommend staying here and we hope to be back again! "

"When we arrived there they had over booked and did not have a room available for us. Although we booked 1 month in advance. Their general manager was not apologetic. Seemed like they had an event and they gave our rooms to some dignitaries. "

"The hotel was a short drive to Moshi, while being far enough away from hustle and bustle. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating- even going so far as to check I was well when I slept in after a long hike at Kilimanjaro. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area."

"The host Patricia welcomes you into the property like you were family. She and the staff are generous and were happy to help - even when we had some surprise changes to our itinerary. What a wonderful quiet place just on the edge of town, truly an excellent way to wrap up our time in Tanzania."

"I really enjoyed spending time at this hotel. The staff are very welcoming and wonderful people to be around. The staff made sure that I had a shuttle to go around town and a safe way to get there, had a secure place to store the remaining luggage, and they made delicious food for breakfast and at the restaurant. I would highly recommend to stay at the Stella Maris Lodge."

The roof top bar was a joy to sit at and see the sunset and mount kilimanjaro. The food was delicious and beautifully served "

"I stayed one night upon arrival to Moshi. I was warmly greeted late at night. Check in was super easy. They take a copy of your passport. My room - even though I’d booked a single - was much larger and had a double & single beds. Room was clean and tidy with enough plugs for charging your gadgets. There were toiletries including toothbrushes, soap, shampoo & lotion. Breakfast was included and I even got a nice chef-made omelette. They have a nice sitting area by the pool or you can sit inside. The lodge is quiet and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I wasn’t sure how to get the hot water to work but to me the water was lukewarm. Good enough for a quick cleansing. "
