"During the week I stayed at the hotel, I developed a skin irritation on my body. I believe it was caused by the bed sheets, which were contaminated with bacteria. I took an antihistamine, and by the following week, I had recovered; I moved to another hotel and did not experience this problem again! I have never had this issue happen to me before!"
Comfort Inn Marion near Downtown & Blue Ridge PKWY
2/10 Terrible
"We got to the motel around 8 PM Saturday night 5/16. I told the front desk that we were there to check in and made our reservations via Expedia. She asked me to give her my driver's license and I did. She looked at my license and told us we could not stay there because we lived to close to the motel. We said you got to be kidding! She said no that they have problems with local people staying there and creating problems where they have to call the cops. We live in Banner Elk which is about 50 miles from the motel. We told here that we have a boat on Lake James and had been on the lake all day and were going back to the lake tomorrow. Still in shock never having been treated like this in my life. I have traveled all around the US over the last 50 years. I finally asked her to call the manager or owners and explain the situation to them. She made a phone call and after explaining our situation to the person she called, they said if we would make a $100 damage deposit we could stay. Since I'm not a troublemaker and just wanted to spend the night and rest, I gave her my credit card and made the $100 deposit. You folks should let Expedia know about this policy, so it does create the same problem for the locals.
I don't guess we'll be stay at the Comfort Inn in Marion anymore since they don't want my business. I don't know if the corporate people at Comfort Inn support this policy or if it's a local policy but I'm going to get in touch and let them know."
"Like being on Vacation with your parents in the sixties. They even have the chain lamp hanging from the ceiling over the chair in the corner of the room."
"My wife and I enjoyed our three night stay very much. We will return. The staff is simply awesome and personable. They are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Amenities galore. Roland's, dinner at Wray's and the speakeasy in the basement named The Washroom.
Went on several drives and several hikes and ventured through the village and visited many shoppes."
