"Room - Clean, attractive room with a lovely balcony view. However, it was surprising for a supposed 5* hotel to have no tea/coffee facilities. The TV also wasn’t smart-enabled and only 4 Spanish channels worked. Staff urgently need customer service training. Check-in was unfriendly; after staring at us in silence, the receptionist said, “well do you want to check in or not.” Staff often seemed to stare rather than communicate. At the rooftop bar, staff were holding some sort of meeting/cocktail session and completely ignored us despite the bar supposedly being open, so we left feeling uncomfortable. The two main pools were lovely, but the third was empty, possibly under repair. We also weren’t informed that the rooftop pool was closed for maintenance, despite it being one of the hotel’s main selling points. Charging 25 euros per hour for the spa felt excessive, especially when other facilities were unavailable and there’s nothing else to do on rainy days. Breakfast and à la carte food were 'ok', but the dinner buffet was mostly cold. Service was poor throughout meals: nobody checked on us, there was no apology when we reported raw rigatoni pasta, and we waited over 20 minutes just to place a drinks order before asking ourselves. The hotel was quiet, so it’s hard to imagine how service would cope when busy. Location - The Alsa bus from Alicante train station stops outside the hotel, which is convenient, but getting elsewhere is difficult."

"I came to stay in low season in May after a city break in Alicante city. I found Villa Joyosa to be really nice quiet and peaceful. The hotel is located in a really great location about 5 mins walk from the beach. The room was really clean and fitted to a great standard. I really appreciate the small finishing touches like Rituals amenities in the bathroom. The place its self is really clean and modern and seems to be newly refurbished with a great style. They even have Porcelanosa shower and toilet/sink (expensive fittings). I really appreciate the place and would love to stay again. Easy to check in and out with passcode access and the owner was really great with communication - available on WhatsApp and quick to reply. I can’t fault the hotel or location all was great. I even asked to extend my stay an extra day due to a late flight and they were more than accommodating. Overall a 10/10 stay and super pleased I picked this place. - I’m a little bit of a hotel snob so this place rates highly in my standards! "

"Amazing in every way"

"Hotel was a spotless business-oriented establishment on a side street in an unremarkable small city. Check in was quick and efficient. I requested and got a room with a spectacular view of the canyon from the back of the hotel. The wi-fi worked very well. Breakfast buffet was good if not spectacular. Little chocolate drops near the fresh fruit made a great cup of hot chocolate--skip the packets of overly sugared mix near the coffee machines. The biggest problem was the shower, where in an instant the water temperature veered from perfect to ice cold, then to boiling hot, then back and forth again.."
