"I can honestly say this is one of the best places I've ever stayed & this certainly wasn't what I anticipated when booking.
Our party booked prior to bad weather hitting & meaning we had to cancel our plans for onward travel.
We ended up altering our plans & stayed on at Purdy Lodge for a second night so as not to risk travelling in snow.
We were blown away by how helpful, kind, respectful & accommodating the team here are / were. From the second we arrived to check in, to when we came to leave.
The check in was friendly, efficient & informative. The room was well equipped, spacious and comfortable & it had a sea view! Over fields & all rooms have a countryside view, not that of the A1 out the front. Rooms are quiet through the night, although we did hear guests thunder past the room twice with no consideration for others, but this isn't any fault of the accommodation or staff.
This is a very dog friendly and genuinely welcoming place & our time in the dining area was made very comfortable with us and other guests in mind. For this we were so grateful, thank you.
Some inconsiderate owners hadn't picked up after their dogs outside, but this could be people stopping at the services, not staying at the lodge & everywhere else was spotless so again, not the accommodation at fault.
The building was warm, well equipped, easy to access & felt comfortable and you could tell that staff care about their place of work.
The BEST fish & chips ever are made here too lol! "
"A really lovely hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, very well maintained and spotless hotel, our room was spacious with a fantastic terrace overlooking the castle, large well appointed bathroom. Excellent food in the restaurant. My wife is coeliac and they knew exactly how to cater for her dietary requirements, nothing was too much trouble. And the location is perfect, across the road from the castle and short walk to the local shops, bars and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again "
"Great place to stay. Lovely room, good location to visit the sights of Northumberland and the borders. Great breakfast choice and quality. Nice atmosphere and locals in the bar with fair pricing too. The staff are excellent and really helpful and obliging."
