The service was exceptional. The staff took the time to explain to me how to get to the place I needed to get to, gave me walking directions, but because it was after dark I decided it would be safer to travel by taxi. She called the taxi to find out the cost of taxi for me and booked the taxi for me. The property was clean in good condition and bed was comfortable.

This was a nice hotel for a one night stay. Twin room was spacious. New refurbished bathroom with shower(no bath). Room contains a fridge and comp tea and coffee. Unfortunately the beds were too hard for me. So didn't have the best sleep. Staff very polite. Breakfast was ok but not much option. Free parking behind the hotel. Nice sizzling pub 5 minute drive down the road for food.

Disappointed wouldn’t be back
Arrived at hotel my room had been given to someone else I ended up with a single bed for the night. The room was very tired in general whole hotel needs an upgrade. £110 for a nights stay is just crazy price for what your getting with this hotel stayed in better b&b for £40 The only good thing was the parking located at rear safe for van parking

Quiet place. Noisy road.
Good brekkie. Quiet hotel on a noisy road. Tesco nearby. Many sirens with hospital. Lovely little place, but no elevator.

If you're looking for an alternative to identikit chain hotels, The Woodlands offers just that. Whilst the decor and general feel is a little dated, the owners are charming, the place spotlessly clean and breakfast is excellent. It has a quirky charm which only adds to the experience. It deserves a wider audience and, so long as you're not expecting up-to-the-minute, on-trend decor/facilities, you'll have a fine stay.

We went to a concert at Villa Park, short taxi drive away. Reception very friendly. Room basic, but good value, and very clean. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast.

This is very much an old-fashioned and family-run business. No "mod cons" here, indeed no USB plug-ins..so bring your plugs. Clean but not fancy. Barely saw anyone..in my four days there..quute strict regarding lock-up times...breakfast etc. Poor shower pressure and small..limited TV entertainment. Only real complaint ... Do Not Disturb sign should be respected....it was NOT!

Amazing cozy guesthouse with hearty breakfast and not far away from some cafes & restaurants, Harborne walk. There's its own bar, & Tesco right across the highway are both big pluses as well.

Comfortable hotel on bus route into city centre
Stayed here during the Commonwealth Games. The room was reasonably priced for that period. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. Location wise, it's not too far away from the nearest bus stop into the city centre.

The cricket international that was moved.
We stayed for two nights in the triple room No.12. the room was very clean and amply sized for 3 adults. I had not visited the Hagley road area of Birmingham for 20 years and I'm sorry to say the area is very poor now, loads of socially assisted housing, people begging on the streets, and a lot of undesirables at night. Room 12 is on the second floor, the room was extremely warm at night, we were unable to leave the bedroom windows open due to the excessive road noise which didn't seem to reduce into the small hours. The floodlights at the front of the hotel lit the whole of our room up at night, and even with the curtains drawn made it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was good, although there was no vegetarian option for myself.

I had read the reviews on here and trusted them. Fortunately they were accurate. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is spotless. I mean it really is extremely clean. It was quiet at night so I would have got a good night's sleep, if having young kids, plus CV19 hadn't reprogrammed my sleep anyway... Parking was convenient, round the back. There are restaurants/pubs fairly nearby if you want to walk to them, or you can get a cab in Birmingham pretty easily. I walked up the road to a curry house which was fine. Style wise it's certainly distinctive and overall is sort of a cross between a B&B and an hotel. I had a drink in the bar, served by the owner, but they don't do food (apart from breakfast) apparently, or not on that Saturday anyway. I just wanted a bacon butty for breakfast so can't comment on the 'full English'. Would stay there again, definitely.
