The Club House Hotel

"We stayed one night in this charming old hotel. The location was decent, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean and it was very quiet. Like many of the hotels we stayed in during our trip to Ireland, the bathroom was small with a very tiny sink and the room was fairly small, too. There was virtually no where to put suitcases except on the floor. But all we needed was a place to sleep, so these weren't deal-breakers. Also, you need to stick your room keycard into a slot on a wall in the room in order to activate electricity for the lights to work. We thought this was odd, but it was a minor inconvenience overall. Also, there weren't any elevators and getting to our two rooms was a maze-like experience, with a lot of turns into different hallways featuring small flights of stairs going up and down several steps, all within the same floor. This, too, seemed a little strange and was somewhat challenging, as we were lugging around luggage for four people. But the clerk at the front desk warned us about this ahead of time and we chalked it up to being a pretty old building. And small oddities like this did not detract at all from our stay."

"The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were wonderful. Warm, helpful and friendly. The parking is conveniently at the back of the hotel. Very easy then to walk everywhere in Kilkenny. This hotel stood out due to the exceptional helpfulness of staff."

"The property is a fairly nice place. Nothing special as far as rooms go, and the lack of air conditioning was a definite negative on a hot day. Windows helped but they don't have screens in the windows. Front desk staff was very friendly. Parking was easy. Grounds were very nice. My children enjoyed exploring the grounds."
