After a few nights staying in hotels and struggling to find reasonable eating options we went with this guesthouse. Stocked up before we left Rekeavik and was great to have access to kitchen and cooking facilities. Host was very helpful and location was perfect for Geysir and Gulfoss falls. Local thermal springs Secret lagoon a great authentic experience and very reasonable. Farmers Bistro en route to spa locely lunch options.

Great convenient stay along the Golden Circle
Fantastic stay here along the Golden Circle. We arrived at night and left early, so didn’t get to see much of the surroundings, but the host was lovely and welcoming. The rooms were simple, clean and updated. I’d highly recommend.

Lovely place. On the drive in, it kinda feels like you've gone the wrong way, but keep going! It's almost at the end of the road. Comfortable beds, compact but comfortable room, great shower. Great breakfast, with the proprietor (sorry I didn't catch your name!) telling us about the Icelandic foods.

Owner was very friendly, bathroom was updated, however the property is really overpriced. It was a room in a dormitory, not a hotel. We felt like we should whisper in our room and couldn’t go out of room as we may disturb other residents. Also, the room was tiny, almost no counter space and we couldn’t open 2 luggages on the floor, had to have one closed each time to be able to walk! Couldn’t wash hands in tiny bathroom sink without hands touching the sink. Several breakfast items were almost ran out and was not refilled for us as we were the last one attending breakfast (although we were at breakfast ~1hr before end time).

Excellent guesthouse! The owner could not have made us feel more welcome and the spread a breakfast was amazing. He even went as far to explain all the Icelandic delicacies and how we should eat them.

We had a wonderful stay at this property! Harold was a wonderful host. Breakfast was included and Harold did a great job explaining all of the foods we were not familiar with and may not have tried them had he not explained. We would highly recommend staying here. It was one of our favorites while visiting in Iceland!

What a great stay!
We really liked our stay in Brekkugerdi. After arriving we were offered to have a complimentary tea, coffee and a soup. The host was very kind and he explained us all the things he was offering at breakfast. Food was excellent with various choises, for example 4 different cheeses. The area was very peaceful and in the night we saw the Northern lights! I highly recommend this place to everyone!!

Clean location with a great owner
This is a nice, clean guesthouse with a great owner. The rooms were clean and warm. There were snacks and instant soup provided in addition to the nice breakfast in the mornings. The shared kitchen was spacious and had plenty of kitchenware for use. Haraldur was very friendly and explained the whole set up as well as giving us insights to the foods during breakfast. We accidentally parked in the owner's lot instead of the guest parking which was on a slope during winter and our car couldn't get enough traction on the snow/ice to get back up. He helped us get the car out of this rut without any complaints and remained upbeat the whole time.

AMAZING stay at Brekkurgerdi Guesthouse
My cousin and I had an AMAZING stay at Brekkurgerdi Guesthouse. We had driven in from Reykjavik earlier that day, and did the entire Golden Circle. We were pretty tired by the end of the day. The owners weren't in, but one of the people that was also staying let us in and told us that our keys were upstairs. We were SO amazed by the new renovations in our room and the cleanliness of it all (we had slightly low expectations because of our previous hotel in Reykjavik). We were very happy with the entire guesthouse. The kitchen is huge and amazing equipped with a coffee machine and kettle and everything else that you need. They also had some instant soup and chocolate bars to tie us over. Breakfast was amazing as well -- had a lot of different hams, cheese, breads, etc. The only scary thing was that the wind was REALLY strong in the area -- so you can hear it at night. Also, be careful when you're walking out of the guesthouse. It can be really icy! I unfortunately fell, but am a-okay.

The property is tucked away, in a lush and green wooded area. (Make sure you slow down and enjoy the Icelandic horses peeking over the fences!) The drive leading to the house is gravel, and there is a small parking lot next to the property. The check-in process was confusing, and we would not have figured it out without the aid of another renter. (You go downstairs and click this remote control button to summon the host. There wasn’t any posted signage.) The rooms were clean and very nicely appointed (albeit a tad warm). The bathroom was excellent with excellent water pressure. The host was warm and welcoming, and he spoke excellent English. The breakfast that was included in the price was phenomenal (cook & serve yourself—eggs, cereal, oats, fruit, skÿr, pickled & curried herrings). I would stay again!

I got there late and no one was up. But they left a note with my room number. The only thing that was a little misleading is that I thought it was supposed to have a private bath, and I didn't. I left early in the morning before breakfast, so again I didn't see anyone. I may have been the only person there. I don't know. It was clean, warm and quiet. This is probably not the best place to view the aurora borealis as I had anticipated, because there are green houses near by with lots of light. It was a rainy night anyway. I would stay here again.

The guesthouse was pleasing. There are 8 rooms total all located on the second floor. We booked a room with a bathroom which was great. The sink is very small but it’s still a sink. We had a chance to see the northern light at this stop once you step out the door

We greatly enjoyed our stay! Small, cozy room with a wonderful shower and towel heater. One of the comfiest beds we had during our stay. The host, Haroldur goes out of his way to ensure you are comfortable and well fed. The included buffet breakfast is delicious and easily enjoyed in the warm sun room. Shared kitchen is handy if you want to make a tea or coffee.
