"The welcome was good from the pleasant owners. The Manoir is an impressive historic building set in its own grounds and surrounded by a housing estate. We were shown up to our room up a steep winding stone staircase up to the attic or turret room. This room had an ensuite. The decor and finish to the room was poor and not to our taste. Rather gloomy. But the room was warm and the bed OK. No glasses to drink from. No soap dish. Not particularly clean. (But we do appreciate how difficult it is to keep beamed rooms clean). When we entered our room, our reactions were "what have we booked! ?".
The breakfast was unappealing. The breakfast room was interesting but a little odd!
The owners are clearly trying hard, but we are sorry this was not a good trip for us. Good luck in your endeavors."
"Great hotel, very impressed. Room was modern and very clean. Bed was big and very comfy with memory foam pillows. Bathroom very clean with toiletries and towels.
Used as a stopover for one night, easy access with free car parking."
"Nice space made for the guests. The room and separate private bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The property is set in a nice setting and the owners were pleasant, especially Pierre."
"Our night at the Chateau had to be the single most memorable night of our trip.
I loved it; my other half was a bit freaked by it all.
The property is a long way from anywhere down a stone road. The wildlife is incredible (I’ve never heard an all-night frog chorus before and the deer roam freely through the meadows). It is basically a private house offering rooms and a basic breakfast- not a hotel… it’s very much like taking an Air BnB room.
The owner is a character but speaks virtually no English- this isn’t for you if you’re not able to get by in French.
The house is unique, and speaks of grandeur in the way that old piles do. It felt like spending the night in a National Trust Manor House before they’ve done it up.
If you want a night in deepest Anjou where you’re left to yourself to explore a chateau and can sit drinking wine under a tree with a cat purring on your lap, this is worth a go. If you’ve got young kids, you can’t speak much French or have mobility issues (there’s a spiral staircase), stay somewhere else. "
