I was advised by staff at the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel that their sister hotel, the Ocean View Hotel was closed due to maintenance. So I can not give you feedback for that stay. However, I was given a room at the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel instead. Normally when I stay at the Cottonwood Hotel it is for a break and I always book the ocean view room. I had stayed on the Friday and Saturday I was put in a small double at the back of the building, so decided to book a double at the Ocean View for Sunday night because their doubles are bigger and the cost was a little less. So after finding out that the Ocean View was closed, I was upgraded from a double to ocean view twin room. The staff and management at the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel are always smiling, warm and welcoming and go the extra mile with service. I really appreciate that and always look forward to my stay.
Didn't stay in the Ocean view as we were up graded to the cottonwood boutique which is right next door and owned by the same people but all the same very nice stay and friendly staff.
The hospitality of the staff was great, however the beda were extremely hard and uncomfortable, no matter which room. They tried to help by placing us in different rooms, but the beda were all the same, no matter upgrade. We were upgraded to the neighbouring hotel they with, unfortunately same type of bed.
Suggestion is keep the great staff, but refurbish the hotel to an up to date standard, and get beds where you can’t feel each single spring through the covers. The two hotels are typisk examples of faded glory, which was due an update 30 yrs ago. Yet the prices are similar to much newer hotels with a great standard.
Barely saw any staff, vending machine empty, shower didn’t work (shower head too full limescale) other that that was ok. Was on beach front so had a good view. They said free parking but when we arrived had yo pay £10 a day (3days =£30) quite a bit extra on top of bill.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. But it was disappointing that their bar was closed and they didn't serve any evening meals. The hotel needs redecorating worn out carpets and cracks in the ceiling. The bathroom needs updating with an electric shower not just relying on the mixer tap in the bath.
Very friendly staff, great position just across from the East Undercliff, enjoyed good food and entertainment in its sister hotel next door the Cotton Boutique with Paul Walker entertaining all the guests and passers by, really good breakfast in the Ocean View Hotel in the morning, all in all a lovely weekend.
The location and the price were great. There was a nice outdoor pool, the staff were friendly and the hotel was clean.
However, the hotel is old, dated, the floorboards creaked and the TV didn't work. Parking was cheaper in the street next to the hotel than at the hotel.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Have stayed in worse.
Generally ok. Staff excellent but hadn't a clue when I tried to order certain foods and avoid the BLT at all costs, pretty awful. Some things inthe bathroom didn't work properly, maintenance poor. Hotel dated and had to go to a sister hotel next door for food and beverages. However the room was discounted, so no complaints there. Hotels need to put more information up as to car parking etc. Doubtful that I would stay there again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
Clean place, lovely staff.
No amenities in hotel on a rainy day, there was no staff around to serve/offer a cup coffee, no music
Hotel a little dated and in need of a few improvement inside and out.. but overall for a weekend stay it was lovely, location nice, nice pool, garden in need of some TLC
The hotel was near the beach and it was quite. Staff really kind, polite and helpful. It was very clean even though hotel is a bit old. Breakfast was really good.
Our room was cleaned every day and towels changed. One thing was missing was having bar

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The foyer was nice, the rest of the hotel inside and outside is in dire need of cleaning and refurbishing.
Unfortunately for us, when we booked it was not clear that this hotel is currently only functioning as a B&B. The staff were lovely and the rooms were a big and clean with good facilities. The hotel is also well located. However, the children were disappointed as the pool wasn’t working, the bar and restaurant were shut and the lift and vending machine were out of order. I have a bad back and the children and I had to carry our cases up two flights of stairs. The staff are obviously trying hard to get it back up and running and were very helpful in recommending a pool at a hotel a few doors down which we were able to use if we bought food and drink; although this was very expensive. Staff also explained that we could use the hotel bar and restaurant next door (with 10% off food) and this was very good. There was though some problems with other noisy, rude and aggressive guests near our room who woke the children up by swearing and shouting and there was no one on reception to assist. There was a number to hotel next door but other guests informed us they had tried telephoning twice and there was no answer. I am unlikely to book via Expedia again!
No staff in hotel property being renovated, had to go to sister hotel next door. Was not told when booking the hotel and as this was my first trip away on my own i felt vulnerable as i am a woman on my own.
