"Considering how cheap this was, the room was surprisingly good. The mattress was super comfy. Had a bath. Decor was dated, but super clean, with toiletries included Shout out to the receptionist Toby who was amazing when helping us out, seeing as i somehow ended up booking for a different not by accident. He was a man on a mission to help us, and help us he did. Thanks again mate 👍 "

"We took our little dog with us and the only place we could eat whilst with her was the conservatory. This is a nice space but the floor was not cleaned from when we arrived and had something to eat there (a chip was dropped on the floor). It was still there with other crumbs late morning Sunday which didnt seem very sanitary. The spa was terrible - overcrowded, not the peaceful hushed space described in the leaflet. My husband refused to attend all of his sessions due to this. He could not even find a place to sit in there let alone get access to the facilities, as it was full of giggling women toting glasses of champagne and taking up all available space. Very poor indeed and we wont be returning. "

"Our stay was just perfect in everyway there is a lovely homely feel at this hotel...very quirky and steeped in history The room was very clean, our amenities in our room was very good from the biscuits and tea bags etc to the soap on the sink and the shower stuff and moisturising lotion. The bed comfy and very big.. sheets etc were lovely and clean and laundered. All the staff very pleasant and polite and could not do enough for us during our stay.. we would definitely stay again"

"The receptionist was lovely, accommodated our needs in that my partner has a bad knee and the lift was broken so she gave us a ground floor room. I also asked for a bathroom with a bath, and she sorted that too."

"The hotel ceased trading several days before our trip. We received no communication about this from either the hotel or Hotels.com and so found out when we arrived at around 10:30pm and found security guards preventing access to the car park or building. Appalling service"

"Sadly the friendliness and helpful nature of the staff cannot excuse some of the basic fundamental issues that I have experienced over the last few stays at this hotel. I decided to stay here as I am a keen swimmer and the facilities here are great in that regard. Unfortunately I seem to be unable to get the same quality of room between stays even though I always book the same room type. If it’s not noisy pipes it is television sets that don’t work properly or some other basic requirement that is lacking. It’s a real shame as it has the potential to be a really great hotel but is being mis-managed with not enough emphasis on hotel maintenance. A special mention should be made to Sanda, Megan and Felicity on the desk who all went out of their way to make up for the hotel’s shortcomings, and I can’t praise them enough. Hotel management however need to stay behind."
