"We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round ."

"Not the apartment I was expecting but very nice nonetheless - had expected ground floor apartment as travelling with older relative who has some mobility issues - access via very steep stairs. We were lucky with street parking but this could be an issue, probably best to book parking with landlord for extra cost. Older relative would have appreciated non-slip mat in shower. Ideal for 4 people, Murphy bed at end of large lounge/kitchen with screening for privacy and second shower/loo. Would...

"I booked this property because it acepts dogs. When I arrived the owner was quite horrible with me about my dog. Apparently you need to state about your dog coming even though the website doesn't state that! Poor communication and as a paying customer I was put off by the owners attitudes "

It overlooks the street so accept there will be town noise on a Friday./Saturday night. Does mean it is superbly situated for city exploits. Only negative was parking. "Great location for our East Anglia base. Service was excellent and the staff very helpful. We stayed in the new wing which is spotless albeit spartan. Would be nice to have a micro and fridge. I didn’t play golf but think the management could put some investment towards course improvements. Someone told me there’s a focus on wedding bookings. I would say that marketing as a golf resort would compliment the wedding business nicely. In order to do this you have to have a really nice course and avoid negative reviews for golf."

"Lovely old property, lots of character and charm. Staff are friendly and welcoming, some I feel are under pressure from senior management, It feels like they are short staffed. Which adds pressure to the rest. But they cope with a smile. Be nice to see more staff which would definitely increase the customer experience and enjoyment. Word of mouth is the biggest compliment to any business. Thank you to all the staff on the front line."

"I am a regular guest of the Holiday Inn, Abbots Lane, Colchester and have always found the hotel both inviting and comfortable. The staff are excellent and always friendly and helpful.
