"I just very recently came back (July 2026) from almost a week on the Isle of Man and stayed at the Devonian the whole time. I can highly recommend it for the breakfasts, the lovely and responsive staff, the central location, and the spotless rooms. For being a three-star hotel, I felt the value was among the best I've ever experienced traveling. To expand, the staff at the Devonian are obviously invested in giving their guests an enjoyable stay. the breakfasts are delicious and the clear equal of any nicer restaurant meals I've had, and the staff who serve them are warm and caring. The building itself is very charming as well, and the location could not be better. Easy access to all that Douglas has to offer, and convenient to the buses and train that make the rest of the Isle of Man easy to get around on. As an older building, there is no lift, but that was not an issue for me in the slightest. If I ever return to Douglas, I can't see myself staying anywhere else. At the price point, simply unbeatable."
"We enjoyed our week at the Sefton, it is situated quite centrally on the prom, with Bus stops right outside, easy walk into Town for the Quayside or Steam Train, slightly longer walk up to Derby Castle for the Electric Tram/Horse Tram, and just cross the road for the beach. We didn't eat Breakfast, or try the attached Pan Asian Restaurant, but the attached Bar does reasonable Pub food in the evenings.
We were on the 4th (top) floor, which had the slowest lift ever, which was out of commission just once, but quickly fixed. We really liked our room, with a balcony overlooking the indoor courtyard, it was a very good size with very clean, new looking Bathroom. I'd requested a walk in shower, which we had. Beds were comfy and NOT foam (good for us, as we hate foam mattresses). Housekeeping was every other day, which was fine once we'd realised (missed the notice at reception) we just asked for extra milk, tea, coffee, etc.,. at reception and took a little baggy up as we came in from our day put.
The pool is small with odd sloping sides, but fun and not over deep and kept at a good temperature. We made full use of it, often by ourselves, even though the Hotel was full.
It's a relaxed place and all the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which goes a long way to recommending the Hotel. It may not be the most modern, but it's comfortable and we'd def stay there again."
"Room was very clean. Staff were helpful and polite.
Breakfast was a continental.
The beach view was really nice.
The rooms are serviced every other day so ensure you take shower gel with you as the bottle provided is enough for 1 wash only.
I would stay here again. Thanks."
"Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.
The breakfast is superb with a huge selection from the menu and buffet.
The location is ideal and easy to get to anywhere in Douglas.
The views are magnificent.
There are a number of rooms without sea view and frosted windows but the rest of the experience overcomes this.
Highly recommend"
"Fantastic location. Whole experience was outstanding. The staff were helpful from beginning to end. Even a bottle of Prosecco left in the room for us on our anniversary! Would highly recommend and certainly use again"
"The opel express was very clean and the breakfast very good with plenty of choice the room had excellent amenities provided ,with a kettle in room and tea coffee and water topped up daily, only saw staff at breakfast and checkout, it was self check in with key to room left in a safe, the room did have a ceiling fan which was very noisy and could only use with the light on, I was there during a very hot period so not much comfort throughout the night, the view from the room was not good looking out to the side of another building it didn’t feel very private as windows looking straight in, maybe nets could give it some privacy, the location was fantastic on the promenade with a bus stop across the road."
