Hotels near Bury Transport Museum

"The location is ok, not too much to do in the close vicinity, or any big shops for food. The hotel itself is quite dated, which is evident from the corridor, doors and the musky carpet smell. The rooms are ok in size though they were really warm in temperature and no air con available, just a desk fan. The bathroom was quite dirty with marks on the bath towel, a quarter of a toilet roll left and the bath and sink itself were a tad dirty. The pressure for the shower was really great though and the water temp, this was a really big plus. The beds (double and a single) were ok but very spongy and the duvets and pillows had marks on them. The room door is extremely loud when shutting and it did not close tightly which made sleeping at night slightly uneasy. One BIG BIG mismarketing from my booking with hotels.com is that it noted fitness centre and pool at hotel, though it is offsite(along at the stables country club) AND it is not included in the price of the stay. If i knew this i would not have booked this! The breakfast was better than expected for such place, though the healthy selection was lacking. The coffee tasted overly fruity and what really spoiled it was the old lady worker watching over what each guest takes and how long it takes them to finish. As it's her that cleans up. We as a family all felt stared at from her. "

"I recently stayed at the Mercure Manchester Norton Grange Hotel & Spa for one night (11–12 April) and had a really enjoyable experience overall. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely presented, making for a relaxing stay. One small downside was the bathroom — the sink doesn’t have a mixer tap, so the water runs very hot, which was a bit inconvenient. Although I didn’t have breakfast during my stay, the highlight for me was definitely the spa. The facilities were excellent, and I easily could have spent much longer there unwinding. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely visit again."

"Great location and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room itself was ok, a bit tired and in need of a refresh, it was clean and the bed comfy. I’d say breakfast wasn’t cooked to order purely by the speed it appeared, it was standard English breakfast, though felt one rasher of bacon and one sausage was a bit of a poor show, when you generally get two of each of those items elsewhere. It was however decent quality. The selection of cereals and pastries was good, the Greek yoghurt creamy, the croissants were a tad small. Overall cost, location, amenities and staff mean I’d stay again"

"Our stay was spoiled by excessively noisy and drunken local ( probably ) mature layabouts male and femail who had no regard for other travellers. Why the hotel did not refuse to serve them the all inclusive drinks I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND. The evening meal was a disaster and one dish was too salty to eat and was eventually replaced with a strange warm salad dish, which was presumably an invention of the chef. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING."

"The property did not fully match the listing, one of the bedrooms shown in the photos does not appear to exist, and the room our children were going to stay in had visible mould on the walls. While the property had been cleaned well, this is clearly a maintenance issue rather than a cleaning one. The hot tub, which was a key reason for booking, was not available on our first night. We were only told after arrival that a pump had been fitted that day and it needed time to heat overnight. This was not communicated beforehand, despite the host being responsive prior to the stay. Communication during the stay was poor. Messages raising concerns were largely ignored, and responses did not address the issues. It took further problems (power tripping throughout the kitchen) to get a reply, and this was only to check if the lights were on advise the problem would be looked at on the day after (our day of checkout). Fortunately we found the fuse box downstairs and found the issue, this happened 2 more times between out last night and morning of check out. Hotels.com did eventually provide a partial refund due to the hot tub, mould, and lack of communication. Overall, the property has potential but is let down by inaccurate listing details, maintenance issues, and poor communication from the host."

"I booked the Royal Toby as a solo traveller. I was made so welcome by the reception staff. I was immediately put at ease. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was spacious and airy. Consisting of a double bed and a big single bed. Facilities were excellent with tea making facilities. And all amenities you would expect. The room was veryclean. Corridors and communal areas were also of a high standard. I had arranged to go out so did not use bar facilities or restaurant. But if the smell was anything to go by it smelled wonderful. My room was quiet despite there being a storm outside. Check out was efficient. The breakfast was of a high standard and excellent quality and service. Over all i would highly recommend the Royal Toby,and am sure i will visit again."
