"I throughly researched available hotels in this area for my planned bday celebration in Cairo, Egypt and I decided on the Sofitel Nile. Upon my arrival and viewing of the hotel’s lobby, I knew that I had made the right decision. From my Check In, until my Check Out, everything was smooth and perfect. This hotel is nicely decorated. The room lay outs are perfect and there are enough restaurants/bar onsite, that you never have to leave the hotel. Again, I made the right decision. I hope this helps the next person(s) considering this hotel."
"We are longtime visitors to this hotel due to its location and easy access fo the airport. We never had an issue before but our last issue was one for the history books. We paid for one room and extended our stay through Expedia selecting the option to pay when we get to the hotel. The check in counter helped us to keep our room and everything started normally. Then came the strange thing. The supervisor called my husband abroad to tell him we did not pay and settle the payment and let me know. I was in my room for four hours and never stopped by. Later he demanded we pay and even came in our room without our permission to make sure we were legitimate. Then the final straw. They locked us out of our room!! This while I was with my daughter and having my own personal issues to deal with. After I erupted at them for this behavior they wanted to make it right in all fairness by offering me a token discount but I declined. I never want to come back here after this experience. Make sure you prepay because unlike many hotels that treat you with respect and understand you will pay when you leave as an option this one does neither. It isn’t an option for payment OF respect. This wa before an international trip when I needed to rest on my leg of the journey. Shame on you Le Meridian and Marriot by extension."
"We have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the past 15 years. While it’s becoming slightly faded from its original glory, it still remains one of the most luxurious places to stay in Cairo. The breakfast buffet has great choices, though be sure to go early or late during the serving times. From 9-10 the restaurant is very busy and gets quite congested. The rooftop pool is lovely but it is a small space and getting a lounge chair or table is very difficult. The spa is exceptional and the environment there is very serene. The food at Osmanly restaurant in the hotel is exceptional (try their lamb dishes!). If you have the opportunity to access the executive lounge, definitely pay for that . The service there is excellent and the space is a nice place to relax. Samir, Mohammed and Hassan were the staff there and were very welcoming. They stood out for giving superior service during our stay. The Jazz bar is an inviting and beautifully decorated. It’s a great place to relax in the afternoons when it’s not busy. In the evening it is very busy and full of cigar smoke, so we tended to avoid it then. You should bring plug converters with you if you stay here. The hotel has not updated to international plug options and without a converter you may find it hard to charge your electronics. Overall the hotel is extremely clean, though dirty dishes from room service tend to sit in the hallway for hours, which is a bit off putting. We greatly enjoyed our stay !"
