"The hotel was nice, I wish the showers had doors because I accidentally stepped on the wet floor and I fell. The hotel is clean and well kept but when you walk outside smells like a septic tank. I think is the street sewer nothing to do with the hotel but around noon the smell is pretty strong.
I think the pool downstairs could be a bit better it looked green not blue the water was probably clean but it made it look dirty from the top balconies down in comparison to the hotels next door. The breakfast was very good, lots of options and changed very day, it was clean and organized . The room was done every day sometimes they would forget the towels but they would replace them right away. I had a two bed room and the beds were a bit small for a large or tall person . The bar drinks were great they had everything."
"The staff at the hotel were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The hotel was located perfectly for walking around old town Funchal .
Breakfast a delight .
Would definitely recommend hotel"
"What a fantastic hotel. The rooms appear to all be pool facing and have lovely big balconies. They are clean and modern with comfortable beds.
Staff were cheerful, and helpful.
The breakfast offering was very good.
The rooftop terrace is stunning and the main pool area is very very relaxing. The addition of the heated indoor pool and Spa area was a particularly nice touch.
In terms of location there is a conveniently located shopping complex just a 2-3 min walk away. You are not in the hustle and bustle of main Funchal - that’s approx a 30 min walk away.
Loved it!"
"Would absolutely stay here again. The staff took extra care with keeping the property clean, literally nothing was dirty. The staff were Ann very polite and super attentive. They all spoke a level of English (which was good for us seeing as we don’t speak Portuguese). The room was incredible, we splashed out a bit and got a junior suite with an ocean view and it was INCREDIBLE. The amenities were great - we tried to make use of all that we could considering our short stay. Definitely book again."

10/10 Excellent
"The staff were very attentive and helpful. The rooms are beautifully furnished and very clean. The beds are very comfortable too!
Guest relations delivered a lovely gift for our 40th wedding anniversary as a surprise, very nice indeed and a lovely personal touch."
"We stayed at The Vine to celebrate our 30th wedding Anniversary. We arrived hours before check-in. Not only were we checked in early, we received a room upgrade. When we entered the room, we were greeted with a welcome note and a bottle of champagne , We were able to shower and relax after traveling overnight and were totally refreshed when we began to explore Funchal!
Disaster struck during the 4th day of our stay; my wife broke her ankle requiring surgery and a short stay in a local hospital. This is where The Vine went above and beyond to take care of me while I was alone and both of us when my wife was released from the hospital.
Our stay was extended indefinitely until we could provide a departure date (since I had no idea when she would be released), Team members made special effort to find an accessible shower bench for her use when she was able to return. The front desk offered and provided a wheel chair enabling us to salvage what we could of our plans. When we finally were able to make our departure plans, The Vine handled everything - we got the assistance needed to get us safely to airport handicap services and our departure was a breeze. The early breakfast was delicious as it was during every day of our stay.
Long story short, Team Vine accommodated us in countless ways. The location, amenities and most of all, Vine team members, shine above and beyond expectations. This was the very best hotel experience we have ever experienced."
