Algonquin Resort St Andrews by-the-Sea Autograph Collection
8/10 Good
"The Algonquin is the reason St.Andrew’s -by-Sea is a resort town. Lots of shops, most still open in winter are great for clothes, jewellery, and eating out. No movie theatres.
Found a new and superb restaurant downtown called William’s on Water. Superb chef, fresh ingredients with a menu that changes daily.
As for the Algonquin resort, it still has that welcoming, cozy feel: a home away from home. The staff are beyond service I have had anywhere else. I enjoyed a spa service that used honey harvested on the Algonquin’s property, an exfoliating body scrub that was divine.
I must admit that I really really don’t like the new renovations and told the manager. They are switching from warm, soothing colours to cool and trendy greys and blues. "
"We were greeting with a beautiful smile and friendly demeanour, by Julie. She walked us through all the ins and outs of checking in and out. When we arrived to our room and opened the door, we were nearly knocked over by a wave of sauna like heat. We had to turn the heat off and open the window. The windows were filthy (frame covered in a black filth), so much that I didn’t dare touch one of them. We had to prop the one window open with a wood hanger so it would stay open. That was probably the least pleasing part of the stay. We arrived on Saturday to live music being played in the lobby/bar. The entertainment was fantastic but went a little longer than it was supposed so. We could hear the music clearly from our room. Had we been in need of an early rest, it would have been disruptive, but thankfully we were very happy to enjoy it from the comfort of our comfortable bed. Netflix wasn’t set up and only one channel worked on the tv. Overall a good stay for the price. "
"Ocean-facing balcony, friendly staff. Room was clean but was missing some items: soap and shampoo dispensers were empty; no bathmat or hand towels - just two small bath towels and face cloths; two remotes for TV provided with no instructions; one bedside table with a single lamp between two beds"
"This was a lovely B and B! The host was kind and attentive at breakfast. This inn has been well maintained and our room was very comfortable. St Andrews is a charming little seaside town. We walked to a wonderful lobster dinner."
