We took the cable car up to the top of thr mountain and found this little look out spot through the trees.

Cannon Mountain Tramway; Franconia, New Hampshire
Took the tramway up the 4000 ft Cannon Mountain and was treated with spectacular views. Despite it being a gorgeous fall day, prime leaf-peeping season, the 80 person tram only took a couple minutes to travel up or down and for about $13 per adult, it is well worth it. They do offer one way tickets for those willing to hike the other direction. There is a snack bar at the top but it was very crowded. The bar wasn't as crowded but only offers beer and drinks.
