We liked the property, but it was not the address listed on website. We actually were not located in the town but about 5 miles out of town. Calais House represents several properties In the area. Be sure and ask for the physical address of the place you are staying. Contact the representative to make sure you have the correct address. They are very helpful,but website is misleading. Good luck:)

Handy spot just off main road in centre of town

The room was a converted garage, so it was a bit tight. Good breakfast, but it takes a long time to get served!

Would have preferred Sunbeds that can easily be moved into the sun as current ones very heavy ! Otherwise nice accommodation.

Hotels.com complete mix up

The place we booked and paid for with Hotels.com was changed 3 weeks after the "guaranteed" booking. We were told that Hotels.com had made a mistake and double booked the room. We accepted a different room having seen pictures but when we arrived (at exactly check in time) this room was already occupied - apparently Hotels.com's fault again - so we were shown yet another room. This was not acceptable and the pool was green and unusable. We were then taken to yet another place (4th time lucky!) which was lovely. It was out of the centre but we were provided with a taxi, but there was no pool. We had to drive to use the pool and to have breakfast at the original place we booked!

Accommodation and listing on Hotels.com not consis

Our host Ane was very helpful and contacted me in advance to say there is a problem with the Hotels.com/Expedia web listing and booking. I and you think I was booked into the Calais guest house. But apparently not. Rather a room (no 5) at 7 Unie Street. This was comfortable and apparently similar to rooms at Calais but a 10 minute walk away. Ane alerted us to this and we arranged to be there at 1pm. She was there to meet us so all good from that perspective. We had breakfast at the Calais guest house all cooked fresh. This was very good The issue and surprise for me was that we didn’t stay where we thought we had booked. Fault of Hotels.com it seems. Thankfully we did have accommodation. Otherwise we might have been left high and dry on a very busy weekend but saved by Ane contacting us in advance thankfully to reorganise.

Franschoek, always worth visiting

Confusion with the booking. We stayed at 7 on Union, which belongs to the same owners. Three blocks from the main road and breakfast with vouchers across the road, but the room was large and very comfortable.

A Bad booking experience but...…..

We booked the Calais Guest House but on the day of our arrival received a message from the owner telling us to come to one of their other properties. 7 on Union. I phoned for an explanation and was told that I'd booked to stay at 7 on Union through the Calais Guest House listing on hotels.com I challenged this and sent my confirmation for the Calais Guest House but I did not get any satisfaction on the phone and found the male owner unhelpful. On arriving at the Calais Guest House the owners were insistent it wasn't their fault and blamed hotels.com for how they list properties. Regardless it certainly wasn't us who had booked anything other than the Calais Guest House. The lady owner managed to arrange for us to stay in a beautiful room in the Calais and as I understand it moved another couple who were due to arrive for a 2 night stay to another property. Sadly this debacle did spoil our day of arrival and caused unnecessary stress and upset. However, once settled, the Calais was fantastic in every way. Super comfortable, great staff and fab breakfast. Superb location.

We didn't actually get to stay at this property. The owner sent us to a different address and we stayed at her lower quality self catering unit with no pool. We did receive a refund but only after I persued and complained to Expedia via Facebook messenger. After the owner was adamant that we had booked the self catering unit not the Calais Guest house. The self catering unit was very nice but not at all what we were expecting or were looking forward to.

We were only using it as a bed & breakfast so we can only review it from that angle, however, the breakfast was superb and the bed was very comfortable. The pool looked inviting but the weather was not suitable. The location is excellent with close access to the town centre. I am happy to recommend the Guest House.

Superb- go for the luxury room

Great location very close to town centre but in a very quiet street. Super room with huge very comfortable bed. Very stylish furnishings, helpful staff and a great breakfast. Can’t fault it.

Great location, small room

It describes the room with a size of 18sqm. What it doesn't mention that most of this is closet space and an oversized bathroom. The actual room is very small and inconvenient.
