Phnom Kulen National Park

If you want to have a refreshing afernoon you should definitely visit Phnom Kulen (or Kulen mountain) at about 50km from Siem Reap town. At Phnom Kulen, you can enjoy a combination of natural beauty and Cambodian culture in a relaxing atmosphere.

Phnom Kulen is very important for the Cambodians. It is the place where in 802 Jayavarman II was crowned to devaraja (god-king) and announced the independence of Java. Cambodians like to take their whole family to Phnom Kulen to have a picnic, swim in the waterfall and to climb up the mountain to pray at the large resting Buddha.

"Nary was an excellent host who helped us with interesting places to visit and made us feel very welcome. Try her traditional BBQ and walk the tracks through the forest. Lovely spot."

"It is as expected a eco-lodge that needs a little bit of attention From the moment you arrive by a short boat ride you are welcomed with the friendliness staff. The drink and cool towel were very much appreciated. Immediately your holiday pace goes into low gear and are encouraged to take the environment and its sounds in. Whilst the rooms are what you expect at this rating (be prepared to be awaken by cold shower) the attentiveness’s of the staff is exceptional and nothing is a bother. The food and variety is divine and is most enjoyable in the commune area. Highly recommend taking kayaks out to the waterfall. We really enjoyed and would highly recommend."
