My only negative was that the wifi would not connect in my room - even when given an alternative network and password. It connected without issue elsewhere in the hotel. Food and room were lovely

Great dog friendly stay
Very welcoming and friendly staff, dog friendly rooms, bar and breakfast. The room was very comfortable with dog bowls. Great shower and toiletries. Breakfast served in the cafe across the road which as delicious and nice to have food served rather than a semi-warm buffet! Great stay.

Very pleasant
Lovely place and very comfortable. Check in was quick and easy with lovely Emily who was always glad to help and guide us with local knowledge and even a courtesy call to see if we were happy with our rooms.

Hotel had a lovely 'feel' to it. Our room was excellent and all the staff seemed happy and eager to help. Slight issues...Toilet had a push button flush which occasionally stuck and for some reason our window had been screwed shut. However, a great place to stay and relax, we would stay there anytime.

Initial impressions of hotel and room was very good! Clean and well presented! Village of Cowbridge is marvellous and the breakfast was superb! Unsure if I got the room paid for as a wedding was on and placed in first room of long corridor! Still very well presented but had a lot of traffic past door through out the night and window overlooked the Main Street with single glazed windows! Quality sleep time was the down fall!

Need to pay attention to comfort of guests.
I had a very disappointing stay here for a couple of reasons: 1) the room only had shutters which did not block out the light of some floodlights on the building behind keeping me up much of the night. 2) The room was very cold even with the heating on. 3) The wi-fi was unreliable. I also had a bad meal in the restaurant. I ordered a pasta dish which literally only had 10 pieces of pasta in it and some tomato sauce for £13! They gave me some free bread to make up for it.

Good For Very Late Arrivals
I arrived at 1.00am in the morning. Very good night porter and room was warm and well prepared. Very comfortable and excellent breakfast service at the Penny Farthing over the street. Will stay again!

A lovely stay at the Bear Hotel, Cowbridge
Friendly; welcoming; efficient; comfortable; excellent evening meals in the delightful Cube. Breakfast across the road at the Penny Farthing was rushed on the Tuesday morning; much better on the Wednesday morning. Will recommend to others.

Good character hotel - staff very helpful. Room (Cider suite) was fairly nice as an apartment - although you have to cross the high street outside the hotel. Breakfast is in an actual cafe/cake shop - so different to a standard hotel. Room was comfortable - if a little noisy when the pubs emptied!

Self Catering, So Hotel Won't Answer Your Queries
I am reviewing The Cider House apartment. Firstly I must make it clear that it's located across road from hotel, so bear this in mind if you have a lot of luggage. This accomodation is spacious and comfortable and would suit a family of 4 or two couples. It has everything you require, if you are the type to get away from the sometimes hustle and bustle of the hotel. We booked and thought it was located on the hotel premises( not made clear) and we felt slightly neglected during our stay. We had a couple of concerns during our visit and called reception, no reply, so left message. I got my answer two days later. If you're over 5'7 be aware that the door frames are low throughout, some call it quaint, I call it a nuisance being 6'4. Outside our front door was an exposed key cabinet, concerned it could have a master key for our door, we called reception for reassurance, but no response. The TV didn't work, this was just a quick watch before bed with a coffee, but had chat instead. The bed was very comfortable but was awaken on Sunday morning at 05.40 by a delivery across the road, not caring for anyone who may be sleeping. Pump truck dragging across his flatbed and cages being unloaded was my wake-up call. After chatting to the hotel before writing this review, they said " it's something that been going on for a long time and out of their control". So if you're stopping, pack your ear plugs. Seeing it a lot lately but what happened to "How was your stay" etc when you depart?

Spacious 2 bedroom apartment, lovely welcome breakfast pack (bacon, eggs, bread, milk) choice of cereals & tea, hot choc & biscuits too, all complimentary. Apartment is across the road, down small alleyway and up some steep steps to a outdoor area. Would've been awkward if people in other apartment as you have to walk through their outdoor space. The smoke alarm is near cooker so bacon sandwiches at 1am woke everyone!!! Also, large ventilators on the roof at back of apartment woke me just before 7am! There's a pub/cafe below apartment and they're busy with breakfasts etc.

It was all okay but a food and drink festival was in progress. The staff did apologise but it wasn't possible to get anything to eat on arrival. The body wash in the shower didn't work either.
